I was teaching my 1st period Physical Science class when a student named Zach knocked on my door. He came in and whispered to me that I needed to turn on the TV, that a plane had hit the WTC. We sat watching as the 2nd plane hit.

 

It was really surreal being the teacher of high school students during the whole event. I think many grew up that day, in the blink of an eye. We continued to change classes that day, but we stayed glued to the TV, discussing the events, comforting each other.

 

Later, Zach would write in a journal entry that the look on my face that day would always stick with him. I guess that I don't hide my anger very well. Today, Zach is in the army, stationed somewhere in Afghanistan. God Bless you, Zach, and the other men and women stationed with you.

I just heard a story about Bob Papa, the Giants radio announcer. He said that Flight 93 was the Giants charter plane from Denver that came in that night. Papa apparently said that they got in around 6AM, when they got off the plane and he saw the passengers ready to board the flight 93. He said he flew on flight 93 to san francisco a lot on business. Said he knew some of the flight attendants and they would say things about the Giants in passing. Said the most eerie thing was seeing the passengers and possibly even seeing the terrorists before they boarded the plane, sitting in the waiting area.

This gave me chills as I read it...such a sad, scary day.:cry:

I will ALWAYS remember where I was and what I was doing when I first heard of this. Very Very Very tragic day for the entire world.

Thats a really touching story. Have any of you happened to see United 93? Its an excellent movie about the fourth plane that didnt hit its target. If not it should really be watched, the ending made me tear up a bit:cry:

Doesn't all this mourning, weeping and gnashing of teeth only serve to show the terrorists what a great victory the had over the Great Satan? Its six years later and we're still tearing our clothes and covering ourselves in the ashes of the WTC.

I have no problem with people remembering. But remembering doesn't mean living in mourning. You got to remember that the terrorists wanted to stop us in our tracks, knock us off our feet, make us hide, don sackcloth and weep. Remembering means remembering what your enemies did to you, just like at Pearl Harbor. But it also means getting on with life. It means not letting the attack have the effect on us that the terrorists hoped for. Unfortunately, all I've seen on TV is a reliving of the lives lost and families torn asunder, the sick rescuers and so forth. Hardly nothing has been said about how this country got sucker punched, banned together and went and kicked butt. I hate what they did, but I'm not going to waste anymore tears on it. If I do, they win.
