Not to get off topic, but Smith is the only 2 time Mr. Ohio award winner.

I said that Bush is second, but coming close and actually doing it are two different things. Ask the Buffalo Bills. Brian stepped up and did it when it counted. Bush was a great high school player but I think Brian was better.

BTW, Dennis Johnson was the Parade High School Football Player of the Year. What other player in KY has achieved that honor?

 

For high school play only, has to be between Duggins, Couch, and D.Johnson.

Duggins won the award because he was the face of a program that went on a remarkable run. Deserving of the award he received? No doubt. Even in the discussion of best Mr Football? He falls well short...

I think it's important to note that 10 other players are on the field with Mr. Football. Yes, he will sway a lot of would be losses to wins, but you can't fault them for losing a game.

You win 45 games and you fall short?!? Has to be a reason a coach puts you in as a sophomore to lead a team. Don't think falling short fits Mr. Duggins.

Without a shadow of a doubt Jared Lorenzen!! Not only did he not play a full game almost the entire season because of the scores of the games, he FINISHED with a perfect record and a state championship!! I would have no trouble giving it to Shaun Alexander, but IMO Mr. Football not only should lead in statistics but, be a team leader that is able to put the team on their back and FINISH with a championship!!I think a couple of years ago when Micah Johnson won it over Justin Burke, I felt like he won it because of his commitment to UK. Not because of his accomplishments and ability to lead his team to the championship.
