Add Jason Dunn into the tight end rotation. He's only starting his 11th season in the NFL.

Like you said earlier. Way too many players that could be mentioned. I work with Jason's brother every day. He's always bringing in pics from his times out in Kansas City. Man, it must be nice. They take care of their players families while they are at the games for sure.

I worked with his brother back in the day....1982-84. Good times.

Derrick Johnson ?????????? Fine person and his dad was one of my favorite coaches. Dennis, I understand but Derrick.

Actually it's tough to make a list. Might have added that Steven Bragg and the Peavler kid were good linemen during Harrodsburg's first run to the title game. I was trying to think of some more Mercer players and only Troy Lay was coming to mind.

Actually it's tough to make a list. Might have added that Steven Bragg and the Peavler kid were good linemen during Harrodsburg's first run to the title game. I was trying to think of some more Mercer players and only Troy Lay was coming to mind.

That's funny. So was I.

 

I remember playing them in the early 80's and he must have carried the ball 35 times and he got hammered on every single carry and jumped right back up to carry it again.

 

He was a tough running back.

Let's not forget about Nicky Yeast. Lot of people don't remember this, when Nicky and I were Juniors, he was the leading rusher on the '76 team in the first 3 games before he injured his knee and was out for the season. Then Henry Parks got most of the carries and the rest is history with Henry (Berea game, henry rushed for 400+ yards)

 

Back to Nicky, he was a stud, our senior season, he came back full force and he went on to Eastern and won a national championship.

What about Harrodsburg's all time favorite equipment manager Chad Vaughn?

Let's not forget about Nicky Yeast. As was Gus Parks. Gus blocked the FG try by Delaware that turned into the first 7 points for Eastern in the title game.

 

Nicky scored the winning TD vs. a great Tennessee State team in the semi-finals.

 

I remember Nicky (Tank) well. His injury kept that team from being even greater than it was in '76. Yeast and Gus ran all over us (Boyle) in the revenge 60-0 game the next year. Of course I was a freshman then and proud to say that the Pioneers did not score again my next three years against us. Those were some fantastic athletes on those teams in the 70's. If it weren't for Frankfort who knows how much farther the Pioneers would have gone in those years.

Timmy Rogers is probably the best LB to come from the area.

I know...I know....Gus, Bo, Nick, Troy, Jack Pearson, Peavler, Hockersmith, I could keep going. I think most folks list would be influenced by a particular era. (Mine was for the most part)

As for David B., I think he found his MOST talented position on a football field and it required a headset and not a helmet.
