 Maybe it so they can get ready for McCreary county.

Who's playing McCreary County? Pulaski scrimmaged McCreary Central on August 10th.

:bunny:Never mind all the other stuff JUMPER 1, I would just like for you to give me a explanation on why somerset wont play Pulaski and Southwestern on alternate years when they are not playing them in their bowl?????? Example : If this year they played Pulaski in the Ray Correll Bowl then why cant they play Soutwestern at Southwestern ?
Two reasons:

It would be hard to work out such an arrangement on the schedule for all three teams, and it would guarantee Somerset a road game each year.

The ideal arrangement, I would think, is for Somerset to have a bowl-game setup with the three local schools playing different opponents. Then, Somerset could work out individual home-and-home series with Pulaski and Southwestern.

Of course, that setup might not make as much money. ;)

Things do get taken out of context quite often with the reporting at the Commonwealth Journal. Many, many innacurate quotes make their way into print.

Cobb has always taken a high and might approach. He often has some smart comment to make when his teams lose that in some way degrades the opposing teams victory. What I don't think he realizes is that he degrades himself in the process. Or maybe he does realize and just doesn't care.

Very well said Jumper1. I also to jump on another point you made become to involved with my feelings on certian issues with the team I guess well should say know that comes from involvement with the team.

I don't think that anyone from Pulaski that will carefully read the Hines article can have much of a defense for him. It has increasingly become obvious that he stated several mistruths. As for Cobb, IMO he didn't jab at Pulaski any, Cobb took full responsibility for his teams defeat.
 No, what got it satarted was when cobb said " It was Pulaski's Super Bowl " implying that They were UK and pulaski was cumberland.

No, we're Somerset 2 time defending regional champs! Your PC, two time 2 win seasons....Sure, at Somerset we like to win every game but if we drop the Correll bowl, oh well we are looking at a bigger picture! Some conversations I have had with PC fans and students, is that they are satisfied with beating Somerset and thats all.

Yes, we know Somerset has a winning tradition, the jumper fans will not let anyone forget it and probably should not. The fact is over the years the competition for both schools is so different that you just can't compare. I for one believe that Pulaski was about to start dominating the series in the early 90's but then the split happened and both schools needed recovery time. Now, I still don't see why Somerset won't play the other county school during the year, this makes no sense as it would be both good for revenue and for creating fan interest and making more little boys want to play the game. This in turn just makes high school football in the area more competitive throughout the state.

I don't think that's what Coach Cobb meant at all. Although this game was huge for both teams, I do agree that this meant much more to the Pulaski program. Pulaski has won only 4 games combined the last two years and beat a two time Regional Champ--who just happens to be Somerset your biggest rival. My point being that this game has given Pulaski a much needed win over a quality opponent and will now hopefully carry over to larger success in the district this year.

Why would this game have meant more to Pulaski? The fact that they BEAT two time regional champion tells me that if they had played in the same region that Pulaski quite possibly would have taken that region. At least it will not mean much this year as we already know that Pulaski can beat em. It seems like SHS is always making excuses....when they win; it's because they are so great and when they lose; it's because those other schools are so darn big.

Well he seems to clarify everything. There are no "shots" towards Pulaski or their coach, The Somerset AD saw where false statements were said about his program/school, and he was simply clarifying each and every issue. He could have very well trashed Hines, but he didn't, he never once said anything against him.

Maybe Somerset needs to look into putting a gate or two along the fence on the visitors side, other than that it seems all the other issues are dead.

So, since Tucker said it...that makes it so. I would think that if Pulaski had played the first game that they would have came dressed. Especially if coach Hines had not be told he would have a place to change. I guess they were supposed to sit over at their school a mile down the road and wait for the call around 10:30 to bus on over. Or better yet come on over and sit through the first game fully dressed for three hours. As far as the visitors side goes a potty and a water fountain would be nice also.

I have already stated my opinion why this game meant more to Pulaski. Pulaski has been reeling from 4 wins combined the last two year and needed a benchmark win to get this season started on a positive note. Hopefully this victory will lead them in a postive direction for the rest of the season. As for Pulaski winning a regional championship if they played in Somersets region, I think it would be a huge disappointment for a Class AAAA team not to win a Class A regional title. Whose making excuses for Somersets loss, not myself and I don't recall anyone else making excuses except Coach Jay Cobb. His excuse was that he dropped the ball and didn't have his team ready. Thats an excuse I can live with!

I think that the AD at Somerset should have a pretty good handle on how things operate. It is obvious that your going to back Hines no matter what he sais. All of your complaints above have been answered justly and professionally. I said in the thread that got shut down, if Hines, you or anyone else from Pulaski feels that wrongdoing has been done by Somersets part---just simply don't come back and play in the Ray Correll Bowl. I would hate for this to happen, but I also hate that after such hard work from several people and organizations including both SHS and SW that here is were we stand!!!

Good response I have only met him once, and I played a all star game with his son, they are real good people. Not all, but some people across the hwy. should learn a lesson from how he responded to this and I hope the CJ lets it go now its time to play some ball.

One thing on the changing room issue. I believe the last time these two played PC did not show up until the pregame 20 minute clock had expired and either 5 or 10 minutes were put back on the clock and it expired again. A minute or two later the PC buses came flying down the bypass with the kids having already dressed and streched out at there own place. Do you think they called and said we'll be late, no Johnny was just trying to play head games. For those of you around the state that are not familiar with our local geography, these two football fields are less than a mile or 2 minute bus ride apart.

I have also been to plenty of football fields where the visitors have to walk all the way around the field the long way to get to the away bleachers.

I feel this was a good win for PC they deserve all of the credit, but that as a previous poster said the quotes by Hines kind of tarnished it.

I thought Somerset did a very nice job of hosting the semis last year. Complaining about having to walk around to the Visitors side is a bit of nitpicking IMO unless there was a handicap access issue and that wasn't indicated.

madness, sounds like you need a job there, you could probably run the thing I'm sure with your vast knowledge of selling newspapers and how Steve and Jack are just trying to stir things up, rrrriiiigggghhhhttt. I think Johnny was mad at Cobb's comments and that what is was about.

   I think your employment at the CJ must have fogged your mind. To even suggest that the local paper is managed well is the funniest thing I've read on this website. They don't edit anything, cover much of anything, conjugate verbs "we was", and show bias toward wherever the best bucks are generated. This thread and the Hines threads were opened because of the article. I stand by my statement that they are stirring things up because the want to get people worked up and buy more papers.

For the record, my dog stopped dumping on it because he couldn't even stand looking at it.
