September 5, 200719 yr I would think that the PCYFL would be more than happy to play the LCYFL. Very good young athletes on the North and the South end of town. Both of the counties are starting to see the results of the youth league program. I can see continued success for both SWHS and PCHS.
September 5, 200719 yr I agree, I wish it could work out that both leagues could become one, but some people will just not allow it.
September 7, 200719 yr Both Leagues finally played each other like 3 or 4 years ago. The best team from the PCYFL played the Jets from the LCYFL. It was no contest LCYFL won by like 4 or 5 td's. The PCYFL hasn't played another team from that league again.
September 7, 200719 yr Author You must not have read the previous post, The PCYFL beat the LCYFL last fall 20-0. It would not have been that close if not for the 2 inches of mud on the field.
September 8, 200719 yr Once again, the game 3-4 years ago was the Jets vs the 3TD loser in the PCYFL Super Bowl. (NOT the best team in the League that year). That was the 2nd best team in the PCYFL, by a bunch. As for last year, no matter what grade level you say, the age group was the same. Those kids are now the 6th & 7th graders @ Northern.
September 8, 200719 yr Those kids are now the 6th & 7th graders @ Northern. And the kids from the LCYFL that played in the game are all now 6th graders at Meece Middle. I've said it several times, the team from LCYFL that played against PCYFL last year was not our Senior team. That game wasn't even a game, it was a scrimmage that we thought would help prepare us for our Florida trip.
September 9, 200719 yr Once again, the game 3-4 years ago was the Jets vs the 3TD loser in the PCYFL Super Bowl. (NOT the best team in the League that year). That was the 2nd best team in the PCYFL, by a bunch. As for last year, no matter what grade level you say, the age group was the same. Those kids are now the 6th & 7th graders @ Northern. We'll be able to settle this all in a week or two anyway. The kids in the Jets-Oak Hill game and the kids from last year are mostly playing middle school now. Meece swept Southern last week and will play Northern so we should have a county champ this year. Haven't Southern and Northern already played? If so who won?
September 9, 200719 yr Don't know about LCYFL but the PCYFL divisions are separated by age. In other words--they are the same age. Some may have been held back and therefore may still be in the 6th grade. Anyway, several of those kids from the North side are not playing football this year.
September 10, 200719 yr It's good to see Youth Football in Pulaski County even being discussed. Both PCYFL and LCYFL are producing good players. One game here or there this year or that doesn't reaaly mean anything. Just like the local high school games each school has won it's share and will continue to. The regulation 80yd field for LCYFL is really good for the kids, it lets them play football rather than just having the fastest kid sprint to the sideline and then try to turn it up field. The LCYFL teams play on high school sized fields whenever they play on the road so we get to see both and I prefer the slightly smaller field. LCYFL does a great job each year and for several years has taken teams to participate in the National Youth Football Championships (over 100 teams attend) in Daytona Beach over Thanksgiving. This is a real treat for the kids and gives them 3-4 more weeks of football that they normally would not get. One big plus for the LCYFL is it cost $0.00 to play in that league, my son played in both leagues and in the PCYFL I ended up having to buy shoulder pads and pads for his pants myself plus pay a fee just to play. That was 5-6 years ago.

The teams that have been discussed should be playing against each other in middle school this year. The county schools should be combined into Southern and Northern. Somerset has already beaten Southern in both grades. Does Northern have anything for them? Probably not--of course maybe you can convince all those kids that decided to not play football anymore to come out. We can wait and let them get up to speed. Of course if you couldn't deal with Southern...........

I am just saying some of the kids that played last year are not playing football this year. That doesn't mean they will never play again. I'm not sure but I think one of Southern's best 7th graders is not playing either.
September 12, 200719 yr Once again, the game 3-4 years ago was the Jets vs the 3TD loser in the PCYFL Super Bowl. (NOT the best team in the League that year). That was the 2nd best team in the PCYFL, by a bunch. As for last year, no matter what grade level you say, the age group was the same. Those kids are now the 6th & 7th graders @ Northern. From what I have heard the Jets were not the best team in the LCYFL that year either. The Bucs were the league champions and have been for the past 3 years.
September 12, 200719 yr Author My son started out playing in th LCYFL and then switched to the PCYFL. Both are ran well, It just doesnt make since for a kid going to a county school to play in th LCYFL unless they have plans to move to somerset. The PCYFL is for kids attending the county schools and no one else is allowed. The best case would be for somerset to put a team or (teams) in The PCYFL and then we would have one great league.
September 12, 200719 yr If the 2 leagues combined, it would be a very stout league. Same w/ PC Little League & Cal Ripken Baseball Leagues. To much politics on both sides for that to happen though.
