Public/Private Not a problem in BBALL

If our schools are in violation of the rules and you have evidence to back it up outside of hearsay, please I beseech you to turn it in to the KHSAA! I don't want my beloved Shamrocks skirting the rules laid down by the KHSAA.

School district boundaries are not purview of the KHSAA, those are decided upon by the individual districts. For my part I never understood why people don't want to give parents a choice in where their child attends school. Of course it might have to do with my living in a major metropolitan area(by KY standards) with multiple educational options with specific programs for students with different abilities. My viewpoint might be different from someone living in a rural district with only 1 high school in the county. Even so, should those of us who have the options that I mentioned above forego said options because others do not have access to them?

Just throwing that out there.

Bolded is not technically accurate. The school boundaries are decided or were decided at one point by someone in Frankfort, I presume.

If a student leaves in a school boundary of a DISTRICT (Jefferson being one LARGE DISTRICT), than the funds given by KDE can ONLY go to that DISTRICT unless said DISTRICT agrees to let another district receive those funds.

So, I don't believe that the local district can set boundaries. They can agree to accept students outside of those boundaries. If they do that, most of the time there is tuition. (So, the argument that OTHERS have put out about every public school kid being on scholarship is WRONG.) Also, public schools cannot offer a scholarship for any reason or financial aid to offset that cost of tuition.

I do think you meant acceptance of students when stating the bold but wanted to clarify so both parties in the discussion understand what is being said.

I did indeed mean acceptance of students. Coming from a Catholic school background certain terms and concepts are somewhat foreign to me. For what it's worth though it would be the Board of Education that decided the boundaries not the KHSAA. While the KHSAA is a subsidiary of the B.O.E. it isn't the B.O.E.; besides I seem to recall the KHSAA offices being in Lexington and not Frankfort anyway. :D

The bolded reminds me of a thread in which we might actually agree on something CONCERNING Prop 20.:sssh:;)

Was Derek Smith a Silver Grove kid?

I thought I remember his sister playing hoops at Silver Grove.

Just curious.

Nevels a SK kid?

Just curious.

Like I tell my 9 year old, don't ask questions you know the answer to. It makes you look ill-informed...

Smith grew up playing with all the kids from Ft. Thomas and his mom eventually started working for the school. Plus, the kid got a Division I scholarship to play football...tough to do at the Grove.

What you call recruiting, Highlands calls 50+ years of tradition. While other people are complaining about HHS 'recruiting', there school is either charging a ridiculous amount of money for a youth program to play on their field or their coaching staff refuses to work on Sundays. Meanwhile, HHS is hosting the Super Bowl and EVERY kid on all of those teams is walking under a sign with 16 State Championships on it. Instead of accusing HHS of recruiting, why don't you ask your coach what he was doing on Sunday because there were only two head high school football coaches in attendance at the NKYFL Super Bowl...ironically, they're both HHS grads...

NEXT!!!

The member schools voted to seperate the privates and the publics and KHSAA Board of Control cowered to money.

X and Trinity game is their cash cow.

So why would they try to enforce rules on those two schools?

Again...

Why contact them?

I just have an opinion.

Funny that you dont think the r word has ever occurred up that way.

Tradition does draw players. Two claps for Highlands.

Seems like I have struck a nerve with a big boy.

Ah, you're one of those posters. No facts, just rumor and innuendo. You have nothing substantial to make such accusations. WEAK! Keep spewing garbage, your losing credibility with every word you type...

As for striking a nerve, you're not important enough...

Jared Lorenzen goes to Highlands but his brother under the same roof goes to Scott?

Just curious.

Scott Draud from Dixie goes to Highlands?

Just curious.

Good programs recruit themselves.

My bad. I am learning.

I am no Highlands fan, However, Highlands has done nothing illegal except for following a court injunction and playing a player the the BOC ruled ineligable in 2004. They were punished for this action, even though I thought it was weak.:D I think what you mean to complain about is the current rule system for transfer and eligability. I don't like it either, but it isn't Highland's fault.

Wow, so you know Cubster personally!

Alright, let's quit taking the performance posting enhancements and get back to a civil discussion, or I'll have some of you tested.

Funny you bring up Jared. Jared's parents were divorced and he lived with his dad in Ft. Thomas. His dad re-married someone in Ft. Thomas and they all still live in Ft. Thomas, before you start that.

I could name about 100 people from the last 20 years that went to HHS, were good athletes and didn't live in Ft. Thomas. Hence Ft. Thomas being an Independent school district...

I have learned some much from this thread.

I have had my eyes opened by many knowledgeable posters.

Thanks so very much.

Performance posting enhancements... :lol::lol:

Got it...

Although, some are a little low on enhancing part...
