Bellevue 13 Newport 6

Featured Replies

no its not true at all. like i said newport only scored off a trick play so there is no proof of them being able to do anyting else. Pretty much like saying if Ali didnt have the rope a dope he would of lost to forman.

Well lets see if we take away the trick play, and take away the 9 turnovers. That would still mean 9 more drives that Newport could have had a chance to still score on. Do we know that Newport would have scored on any of those 9 drives no we dont, but the percentages should would point to saying Newport would have got something out of it on one of the 9 drives. Which would have meant a Newport win...So once againt the whole thing about the turnover thing is true, if you want to believe it or not. People not trying to take away from Bellevue, but just telling the truth...Its nice that you want your school to get respect, everyone knows that I do the same for Ludlow because small schools like us have to fight for it. But you are fighting something in this thread that there is nothing to fight about, because there is no one trying to take respect or anything away from Bellevue...

Its been nice talking to you, but now its time for me to get some sleep...

So what your saying is Bellevue won because they played good defense. I agree.

BHS,

No one said that Bellevue didnt cause the turnovers, just simply has been stated that the turnovers cost Newport the game. I was told that Newport turned the ball over a time or two pretty far in Bellevue territory which would have lead me to believe that if they didnt have those turnovers then there was a nice chance they would have scored. Nobody's making excuses for them losing and saying Bellevue got lucky. The only time Ive seen them this year was their scrimmage against Ludlow and I was unimpressed with their offense then so them only scoring 6 points doesnt surprise me. They had a long way to go then and this is even more proof that they still do.

I think all of you need to go to bed at a reasonable time. Geez all of that banter between 3-5 am. That is awesome.

I can relate to BHS in that the post did focus more on the "what if" factor of Newport getting those potential drives and winning rather than Bellevue hanging tough, taking advantage of turnovers and winning the game.

Even when they get those turnovers the Newport Defense still has to stop them and all of the hype about Newport having such a great defense should support this fact.

Bellevue stuck it to Newport in their first ever Bowl game on their home field and those guys should be fired up as it is a huge momentum boost. The Buckler kid was listed as a senior in the Enquirer but someone posted he was a sophomore earlier. Which is it? I'm guessing sophomore. Anyway, to score two Td's in a big game like this is huge.

Congrats coach Eckstien and to my Bellevue boys for pulling out the win.

Newport, back to the drawing board. Question, with Newport having such good backs why were they in the shotgun and why were they throwing the ball during that first series. Establish the run and set the tone for the game, dont set yourself up for what happened like an INT return to the 1 yrd line.

Congratulations To Coach Eckstein and the Tigers . The game deserved more than one paragraph in the Enquirer this morning . Oh by the way even though I root for NCC it was nice to see a Bellevue team with that large a number of players on the sideline .

I agree, they spent more time talking about the LaSalle Thrashing of Cov Cath then they even thought about doing for this game. Like we all didnt know LaSalle was going to blow out the Colonels.

Earnst if your reading, give the Tigers some props this week, ah ite.

Bottom line, if any two teams are playing and one of them has nine tournovers and their opponent doesnt win that is not good. Bell. should have won considering the bad ball managment by the wildcats. But as far as both offense's go they need to find something that will work because neither team could move the ball.

ok i have seen it alot when bellevue makes a big win people try to make excuses to make it sound like they lucked into the win instead of earning it.

Sounds like someone's got a chip on their shoulder......lighten up

Newports defense only gave up 13 points when the offense gave the ball the Bellevue 9 times on turnovers. So I dont know what your point is about Newports defense here. I think Newport showed pretty well that they have a heck of a defense since they still help Bellevue to only 13 points...

Deadlines my man. Remember newspapers are "old school" in a cyber world.

Part of the problem was scheduling the NCC game first when that one took a good two and a half hours to play. And add in the 30 plus minutes between games, that means a late ending Bellevue/Newport game.

And add in its not likely for a paper to have anyone assigned to a late Saturday night game after everyone worked other Friday and Saturday games. That's how you end up with 1 paragraph.

ICN-6 was there for both games so highlights should be on their Tuesday show and of course you always have Bluegrasspreps.

Or was it Bellevue' inability to move the ball?

Or was it Bellevue' inability to move the ball?

It would be both...;)

Anyone know why Wilfong didn't play in the 2nd half? Was he banged up?

Looked like he wasnt do to much to slow for the bellevue defense so they went with Oden. Really didnt make a change in the game but he has got a boot i think he punted it about 80 yrds

Well it kind of helped that both Bellevue return guys looked at each other as the ball landed right behind them.

Still an impressive kick with the big roll but the Bellevue faithful weren't happy with the miscommunication. In a game that close it could have been a game changer.
