No Way Vince is better than Leinart in college, and no way is he the best college football player ever, IMO not even in the top 10. Factor in Vince's scrambling yards. So who do you think is the best player ever? What player has had better stats all around and won a NC? Hint: think about his play on the field and how he (Vince Young) had the best game for a QB in a championship game.

Leinart ripped to shreds a top ranked defense in the Longhorns that same game - if the game would have been 30 more seconds, USC most likely would have won. Leinart delivered in the head-to-head matchup.
August 22, 200719 yr I can't believe I forgot Charlie Ward at FSU. He changed a lot of how the game is played as an athletic QB in the shotgun. Great college QB! He,Dunn and Vanover were a blast to watch in that offense back in the day.

I am not sure you watched much of USC if you think their defense was one of the tops in the country that season (regardless of their team ranking). I watched 10 of their games live... it was not a good defense and they were plagued by injuries. As for the thread, for what V. Young accomplished in his two season, especially on the big stage, I do not think it is a stretch to put him in the top 10-15 range. August 22, 200719 yr I don't know how my list would look if I thought long enough, but off the top of my head... Vince Young and his performance against USC is really stuck in my head. Mike Vick and his performance against FSU... Reggie Bush almost every game... I know the thread isn't about single games, but these were great players that have burned unforgettable performances into my memory. That goes a long way on a list like this. Peyton Manning What about Desmond Howard? He was pretty good in college.

Very true. I remember once that Switzer opened up a pre-Orange Bowl practice to the media. Surprised, one of the media members asked him, "Aren't you worried about giving away your defensive schemes or something?" Switzer replied, "We know more about the Selmon brothers than anybody and we can't block them. There's nothing you're going to tell another team that will help them block them any better."
