Which 1 or 2 teams benefit most from the realignment in 2007?

It's got to be Holmes. They were so fortunate to be moved to the same district as CCH and HHS. (Sorry, I couldn't find a smiley dripping with enough sarcasm.)

Scott falls into that same category

I think Dixie benefits from this new system. Even though they have to contend with CovCath and Highlands in their district, they don't have the big Louisville teams waiting for them in the playoffs outside of NKY.

John Hardin will no longer play one of the big three schools in L'ville in the regional championship (St. X, T, or Male). Not to say the new alingment pits them against Bowling Green, Warren Central will be a cake walk.

If by benefit you mean certain teams have an easier road to a state championship, then I agree with the above responses. Some teams moved up in class to avoid travel expense and maintain local rivalries. I assume they moved because they thought it would benefit their programs.I have never been a proponent of the theory of avoidance as the answer to winning a championship.

It doesn't really matter

Louisville Holy Cross for sure ... simply because there is no more Danville.

I disagree with Central. They do have it easier but they have always been a preseason Top 10 so the OP saying that it is unusual for them to be a preseason favorite is a stretch. Central and Bullitt East were always favorites in their district.

Bullitt East and North Bullitt both got favorable realignments in the fact that their side of the 4A bracket is nowhere near as strong as the other.

As far as who got screwed the most I think you have to look no further than Bullitt Central.

No, they just have to beat a 16 time state champ and the 3A champs from last year. It's much easier now.:D

For Dixie it is basically the same. Win the region and you have a better than average chance to win it all, ie..... the teams have changed names but the situation is exactly the same. No change.

I think Somerset benefits a lot. They move up in class and that gets them away from Danville. I think they looked at things and said that 3A could be the easiest road this year and the coming years and said we want to move up. I don't think Somerset wants anymore of Danville. They have had enough in the past. I believe Somerset sees their best shot at going far in the playoffs in class 3A.

Harrison County is now with Franklin, Bourbon and Pendleton County! They were with Franklin, Lex Cath, East Jessamine, West Jessamine. The Thorobreds should be #1 or at worst #2 for years to come.

And no more trips to Covington Catholic and Highlands in the playoffs!
