Kyle Pettit from Pendleton Co. He is getting a lot of attention from D-1,D-1AA programs. He plays center and is 6-3 285lbs.

Neal Johnston, Owensboro High School, at 6'0 and around 190. He'll be one of the best linebackers in the state. He's playing offense this year for the first time at one of the running backs. Look for him to put up big numbers.

It is just unbelieveable to me that you can not have Richie Cox and Jackson Tolle ranked in the top 50 players in the state with the way they performed this summer at the camps and combines also they have played dominate football in the scrimmages against Ashland and Montgomery , the Lex herald needs to get out more.

Again, the Lexington Herald-Leader's list of "50 of the top football players in Kentucky" is based on a survey sent to Kentucky high school coaches this summer.

 

Less than 50% of the coaches responded so you can direct your complaints about this list directly to them.

Keith Welch, a DB,ATH from Carroll should be considered due the factor that everybody uses on this site. recruiting. He has a full ride offer from a D1aa Southern Confrence school. Also being recruited with high interest (not just getting motivational letters from) by Furman, Troy, Murray State, Cinci, Georgetown College, Union Coll., Cumberland, and Shorter College. to name a few. Getting more love from 1aa schools weekly.

I would add 6'0, 200 lb RB/LB David Bird to the list. Most haven't seen him play (Trimble County), but if you did you would agree. He, too, is being recruited by some schools.

John Cole-Somerset is definitely a Top 10 not just a Top 50. Rumor has it that he ran a 4.35 at Vandy twice. Pretty reliable source, but the best thing about Cole is his hands and the way he creates separation. He runs routes without flaw and his concentration on the ball is excellent. His size is the only thing that will keep him out of top contention later in his career. He is the only thing that really worries me about Somerset this week against my Pulaski Maroons.:eek:

They DID have Clay Cecil...but no Luke is a fluke! And no Alex Hempfling? As a player, what more do these guys have to prove? I reckon' they'll take notice when we're holding the state title trophy!

 

I agree but these lists mean nothing. The only thing that matters is winning the state championship, ask any kid on that list what he wants to do more than anything. And the last time I checked, football is a team sport. Nice to hear Jurgens is making a name for himself. I expect a couple other Birds to really stand out this year and at the end of the year when All State teams are picked, you will see a few Birds.
