I read a nice article in the Sunday Kentucky Enquirer about Knothole baseball and several submissions were made from adults reminiscing on their memories of Knothole baseball in NKY/Greater Cincinnati.

 

It brought back memories of players I used to watch and play against. Some most notable in the early to mid 80's.

 

Bellevue Vets- Bob Cowie, Wes Hartman, Larry Schweinfus, Jimmy Kiefer

F & C Athletic- Larry Workman, Trevor Barth, Mike Schuett, Bobby Meyer

Roller Bros- Marty Moore, Mitch Messmer, PJ Doyen

Reno's Catering- Nick Pangallo, Gino Pangallo, Andy Zimmerman

 

Who are some others that were great players during your era and what are some things your remember about those teams they played on?

Transfer Station- Lenny Bayes and Chris Hamblen

Stegman Construction- Kyle Bucher, Marc Spears, Randy Stegman among others.

Wow, that is going back some years. Talk about talent that could have gone somewhere and didnt. Tigger was a stud probably 6'4 in 6th grade I think.

 

I remember watching Hamblen and Lenny Bays work as a battery for D2 Transfer station. Lenny was bringin heat back then and chris Hamblen was rifling people trying to steal.

Had the pleaseure of playing against those guys all the way through Knothole. they were awesome! We never could get past them.

Blessed Sacrament Reds(1965-1974?) was the best Knothole team to ever play in NKY. They only lost 22 games in those yrs. Coached by the best ever, Joe Macke(HC) w/asst Bob Wessleman and Earl List.

Hut A/C of the late 70's and early 80's were very good teams.
