The best team won on that day and that is what I have always said, how can you not say that....Knowles was phenomenal, they hit every shot when they needed to, and played great defense on the rest of Mason County players after Darius Miller. Have never said it for all season and for that reason, it doesn't matter where the game is played. Let it go on the rotating basis to those that CAN host it, and everytime that game is decided, the best team on that day will win the game. Mason County has had a huge advantage playing the regional tournament on their home court for all those years. Over the past 5 years Mason County has cut their chances of losing in half when playing on their home court. They have lost 20% of their road and nutural site games during this time period and have only lost 10% of their home games.

I think you'd have to word it "The best team on that day - won." I don't think there were many days when Clark was better than Mason last year. They were on the one day that it counted most.

It's not easy to be the better team on any day on someone else's home court. GRC deserves even higher praise for being able to pull it off. It does matter where the game is played.

I can assure you I play better at Georgetown College than I do anyplace else. That's because I've played there and I'm used to all the little things in the gym. I have a much better chance of beating a superior opponent in these places than I do anywhere else because I know that if you shoot from the left corner on the side where the band sits during a day game you're going to get the sun in your eyes where there are chips in the paint on the window. The section of floor in front of the home team's bench has a dead spot where a LOT of visiting teams make unforced turnovers. Every gym has its little quirks that can influence the outcome of a basketball game.

It makes a big difference where the game is played.

What it all boils down to is this.... NO MATTER WHERE ITS PLAYED, WHEN ITS PLAYED, or WHOSE HOMECOURT IT IS, THE BETTER TEAM ON THAT DAY IS GOING TO WIN!!!!

 

AND THEN SOME FAN in the STANDS IS GOING TO GRIPE ABOUT THE FACILITY! THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN ALSO NO MATTER WHAT!

The fire marshall measured both the Fieldhouse and Montgomery counties new gym this past spring and the fieldhouse seated 5200 while Montgomerys new gym seated just 3600 , they said that the open areas on each side of the upper deck at Montgomerys gym could not be used because of fire saftey. Why would you not have enough seats for the crowd when the tenth region is the greatest region in the state because of the atmosphere.Facts are facts and if the fans and the revenue are the issue the region needs to stay at MASON.

Also information I am sure everyone will be thrilled with.... GRC has in the plans to build a new high school campus complete with a new gym. The plans is for it to be ready in 5 years. Better be careful what you ask for....

Hey this is great news to hear, just tell them not to make the same mistake that Montgomery County did with the seating and make sure there is 5,000 plus seats in the gym or else it will be like 1969 all over again. Then again reallignment might be back in business by then and GRC could be in the 11th region and all this could just be a waste of breath. Happy Building !!!

I agree again with PRESSROW... It is great that all of the schools in the 10th are building a new gym.. CONGRATS TO THEM, but like he said make it big enough to where everyone doesnt have to debate whether or not it can successfully hold the regional tournament..... If you make it big enough to hold it, no one will have a reason to talk!
