D1's isn't a good indicator of talent around here. Last year's list would have had no problem finding 10 players worthy of making a list, while many struggle to find 5 people to round out this list.

I totally agree with this assessment.

 

There was a lot more depth last year. When you get past the top 5 this year, you start adding names that wouldn't have been in the top 20 last year.

Looks like the talent level at the incoming senior and junior level is not as strong as it typically is. I don't believe that's the case for the incoming sophomore class.there are several incoming sophomores that will establish themselves as top players in the region this year.

It's the 1st weekend in August and a lot can change in the summer, especially with high school kids.

The Northern Kentucky class of 2007 had an unusual number of outstanding athletes in multiple sports, and while NKY didn't end up producing any D-1 "basketball" talents last year; they did end up with a lot of kids going on to play college level sports. several at the D-1 level and several in basketball at the D-II, D-III and NAIA levels!!

They both officially enrolled at Holmes Friday(8/3) the one should be eligible without any problems as he did not play varsity last season, but the other, and better of the two, will have to gain eligibilty with the KHSAA and who knows how they will rule. All be it Scott County seems to be able to get players eligible without any problem. The KHSAA is so fickle with their decisions who knows how they will look at this situation.

Absolutely no way that Sorrell is ahead of Grimes in my book, but everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I am sure that most people would disagree with me anyways.

I won't contest that Sorrell will probably be a better college player because he is a 6"1-6"2 guard and Grimes is a 6"3 forward.

The last time I saw both players back in June, Sorrell looked bigger than Grimes. I think Sorrell is around 6'4 and Grimes about 6'2.

I saw a kid from Villa at the newport league this summer who looked pretty tough. I don't know if he'd make top 10 in the 9th region, but he looked good against the wildcats.

He has verballed but sources say Sorrell had a very nice summer in Myrtle Beach, Vegas and Orlando and several D1 schools are interestd. Could be smaller D1 but he played out of his mind according to the source.

From what I have heard Holmes is going to be very deep this year...talent wise. None standout like Henderson, but they will have a lot of kids that can contribute on the varsity level.
