I don't think Mercer dropped anybody from their schedule last year. I believe it was Harrodsburg.

 

My point is that considering how Harrodsburg became part of the Mercer County school system, it means many of the same folks were involved in cancelling those games as are now complaining about being left without a game on their schedule. It was OK to do leave Harrodsburgs opponents hanging, but they are now upset as they believe someone else has done something similar to them. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, so to speak, they don't care much for the fit...

I believe those schools were compensated. Due to a breech of contract. Is it $2500?

If I'm not mistaken Henry Clay is open 10th game. He should schedule them and quit throwing that excuse out there.

Why is it that everyone is taking shots at Jaggers? Is it me or in reading the email did Cobb not agree to play? I believe alot of coaches set their schedule the very same way. Communicate via the email with the opposing coaches and once a coach agrees, you pass it on the the AD's/Principals to finalize the paperwork.

 

Why is everyone giving Cobb a pass when there is proof that he said lets play and then decided against it. It appears to me that Mercer & Jaggers are taking unnecassary attacks for taking a man at his word. In the coaching industry there are alot of games scheduled on a handshake and later put on paper.

 

Maybe it is a little of the anti-Mercer venom from last season?

Not saying that...my post was in response to the post regarding the buyout clause and how that should have appeased the folks who got dropped when Harrodsburg was absorbed into Mercer. Jaggers says he is upset for the kids not having a 10th game. If that is the case, then why would the folks at Mercer think that the buyout was enough to appease the teams that were left holding the bage last season?

Ill be honest with you, I dont think it matters whether it would be Henry Clay or some team from The Sisters of the Poor. Having your 10th game, in this case the 11th week (week before playoffs) as an open date is VERY SMART. As a matter of fact, here is guessing that is the same reason why Henry Clay along with Mercer and others probably chose to have that game as there initial off week. Mercer's last few games are going to be against Boyle, South Laurel, Hopkinsville (at Hoptown) and Rockcastle County, so noone can say that they are dodging the competition factor, that's for dang sure (not saying you said that, but just in case some out there are thinking that, which Im sure that there are).

There is nothing anti-Mercer Co or anti-Jaggers about it. Simply that "lets play" is hardly a binding agreement.

 

Maybe Cobb wanted to play and could not work things out through the school or some other circumstances. I'm not taking the Somerset side of it. I'm just saying that ''lets play" still leaves alot of specifics that have to be worked out.

Jaggers should have made sure it was a done deal before he went public and proclaimed it official.

Jaggers didnt make it "official". All I know is this, Mercer played Somerset in the semis of the regional baseball tourney and talk of the football game between the two was already being talked about amongst fans. That was the week after Memorial Day weekend. So, apparently, the cat had gotten out of it's bag down in Camp Somerset too??!!!:sssh:
