Tim Couch Chances?????????

Featured Replies

You may be sorry and you IMO opinion are also wrong. What kind of QB do you think PM would have been if he played for the Browns as TC did. The top three QB's in the NFL would have a hard time playing under the same circumstances as Couch endured.

Your statement that Couch never had "it" as you say is simply not true. If you know anything about football at all, (and I think you do) then I am sure you will agree that injuries have prevented him from reaching his full potential.

I think you're misunderstanding my "it". I'm talking superstar abilities.

He could have been serviceable. To say that he could do what Peyton is doing is a little out there.

Not many can do what Peyton can do... he is on another level

Chances = Not much at all, IMO

First of all, he has to be healthy, which seems to be a big negative from most reports we get. If he is, then he'd probably have to get on a team as a 3rd stringer and work hard and wait and hope for an opportunity to open itself. One thing I haven't heard mentioned is Couch playing in a different league like the CFL or AFL to prove that he's recovered and then maybe trying to crack an NFL roster. I'm just throwing a couple of scenarios out there...I don't expect them to happen.

I never say never, so I'd put Couch's chances at 2% (in honor of his number)...:D

This is more the quote I was responding to. This is the kind of stuff that Couch supporters throw out that always make these discussions unbearable..

Put Peyton on the Cleveland Browns and Tim Couch with the Colts and Couch is the one with the super bowl ring and Peyton is the one who is out of the league.

Now you sound like Bill Clinton. What is "IT"?:D

I didn't say that Couch had Manning abilities. But for you to say that Couch could not have done what Manning has done is also "out there" as you say. Who knows what may have happened under different circumstances. It wasn't that long ago that people were giving Manning a bad rap saying he wasn't a success unless he won a ring. many jump on and off of a players bandwagon throughout their career so I am not surprised at all the negative finger pointing toward Couch or any other player.

Again, without the injuries and a different team who knows what kind of numbers T. Couch would have now.

Wow....bad...really bad.

Wow that is the first thing I want to say in response to some of these post..People are actually comparing Couch and Manning and saying Couch could have done almost as good as Manning if he was with the Colts??? I mean I love Couch and I really hate Manning more than any other QB, but Couch is no Manning. If Couch had been on that Colts team he probably would have went 3 and 13 or worse just like Manning in his first year. However it's Mannings smarts and ability to learn that was made him able to turn a 3 and 13 team into a 13 and 3 team in only his second year. Now do you all think Couch would have done that? That answer would be crazy if you said yes. Also yeah Manning has had Harrison, but once again do you think Couch would have been able to have that same chemistry with Harrison, most likely not. The chemistry they have is something you dont find everyday. If Couch was on the Colts team they would have been 3 and 13 and probably improved a little but they probably would have never been much. There is no reason to compare these guys...

You all need to face it that just because you were a great QB in high school and college, that does not mean you would do great in the NFL. Yeah he had some injuries in stuff but its time to face it, he just is not a a good NFL QB, the best he will ever be if he can even come back is average....

^To add one more thing to what I just said. I would like to see the Falcons give him a try out. Because with the offensive mastermind in Petrino I think that would maybe be Couch's best chance to do anything in the NFL because that offense could maybe work well for him as long as his arm is alright...

It wasn't that long ago that people were giving Manning a bad rap saying he wasn't a success unless he won a ring.
I wasn't one of those people.

Couch is no Manning but if Peyton had been on the Browns,he wouldn't have been nearly as good either.Their offensive line would have gotten him hurt a few times also.

I wasn't one of those people.

Neither was I.

Other poster have an opinion just as you do. Just because you do not agree with what they post it doesn't make it as you say, "crazy". Also, it was not IMO Mannings ability to learn ( although he is highly intelligent) that made him what he is as a football player. It has been his work ethic, and determination along with other gifted athletes surrounding him that have helped secure his place in the league. IMO Couch had that same ability just not the quality of players around to make it possible. As I stated many times before ( and this wil be my last in this thread) the career of Couch may have gone a little different under other circumstances. I am not saying he was the best to play the game but he was not as bad as others would lead you to believe in their posting of this thread. Couch has been able to do in life what most only dream of doing ,and to me that makes him a little more than just average.

What's the harm? He's still a young man, a former #1 pick, and a career athlete who saw his dreams cut short due to injury. I say go for it. If it doesn't work out he takes is millions and retires with the knowledge he gave it his bet shot. If it does work out, it's the type of thing they make movies about. Where's the downside?

I said people would be crazy to think if Couch would have went from being 3 and 13 his first year to 13 and 3 in his second year like Manning. I mean obviously Manning talent around him must have not been that great when he got drafted cause the Colts had the first round pick to get him, and then still only went 3 and 13. Also do you think that maybe the reason why he didn't get hit as much as Couch was because he makes quicker decisions and gets rid of the ball quicker. So it would have made it look like the line was not as bad. I admit the Colts had a little better talent, but Manning was able to take those players and make them even better..How do you know he is not as bad as others say, I mean he did nothing in the NFL so people are justified to say that. Also I said at best an average NFL QB, I didn't say anything about him just being average at life, so get that right next time before you want to call someone out a little bit like that...

For the most part the line was that bad. I never thought that Couch could read an NFL defense and I did think he held on to the ball too long when he did have time to throw. .. but more often than not, a linebacker would be taking the hand off from Couch as soon as the ball was snapped
