July 22, 200719 yr The NL Central is getting smoked tonight. To bad we cant gain a game on the Brewers. Would it matter???
July 22, 200719 yr IMO the reds still have/had a shot. They are 12 games out, every team is inconsistent. They also play the Brewers 13 times still. But your probally right cause I cant see them coming close to catching up with how the pitching is.
July 22, 200719 yr Reds are just lucky that they are playing in this division. If they were playing in the OTHER Central division they would be 20 out. Livingston didn't pitch too badly at all. The bullpen and the 8th inning is well documented, good to see the new manager got a taste of it. Let's look at tonight's 8th inning, brought to you by Coors Cold Blast, when you want a game to blast way out of control, turn it over to the Reds bullpen. M. Cabrera singled to left - J. Willingham doubled to deep right center, M. Cabrera scored - A. Amezaga ran for J. Willingham - C. Ross hit by pitch - J. Coutlangus relieved K. Saarloos - A. Amezaga to third, C. Ross to second on wild pitch - T. Linden walked - T. Coffey relieved J. Coutlangus - J. Wood singled to deep right center, A. Amezaga and C. Ross scored, T. Linden to third - M. Treanor singled to left center, T. Linden scored, J. Wood to second - M. Jacobs hit for T. Tankersley - M. Jacobs singled to right, J. Wood scored, M. Treanor to second - H. Ramirez homered to deep left, M. Treanor and M. Jacobs scored - D. Uggla doubled to deep left - R. Stone relieved T. Coffey - J. Hermida hit for M. Cabrera - M. Cabrera lined out to center - A. Amezaga flied out to left - C. Ross grounded out to third 8 runs on 7 hits, that takes A LOT of talent to pull that off. Considering how many times they have done it in this year, this bullpen deserves their own section in the Reds Hall of Fame.

Its bad news when 3 batters get up twice in the same inning. 8 runs in one inning, I could find a highschooler that pitches better than that.
July 22, 200719 yr Its bad news when 3 batters get up twice in the same inning. 8 runs in one inning, I could find a highschooler that pitches better than that. Yep, I'm sure the fine men and women of the Kentucky high school baseball and softball teams could do a better job.
July 22, 200719 yr I've ben on vacation for a week, any significant trades or moves? With the Reds?

July 22, 200719 yr I've ben on vacation for a week, any significant trades or moves? Homer went on the DL with groin troubles. People are still split 50/50 on Dunn being a minion of the anti-christ. Brandon Phillips is showing that he will be a fixture in the All Star game for years to come with his play. Griffey has a shot to get to 600 by the end of the year. Arroyo, Lohse, Belisle continue to be as inconsistent as a person with short term memory playing scrabble. The new manager is trying to prove he can win now and lose next year. The front office is still clueless. Ricky Stone just may the best undiscovered talent in baseball and Freel still can't hit leadoff. Last but not least Hamilton was injured again, should be back soon. I think that covers it.

July 22, 200719 yr What would you do? I dunno, I don't keep up with the Reds enough to invision trades that could help the team. But I'm sure there is a trade they could make that would help the ball club. They could trade someone I'm sure.
July 22, 200719 yr There is NO ONE and I mean NO ONE that will give up any good middle relief right now and thats what we really need. No reason to make a trade just to make one.
July 22, 200719 yr Ricky Stone just may the best undiscovered talent in baseball: I don't follow. You like him or not?
July 22, 200719 yr I've been harping on this for the last couple of years but now its to the point of being sad. The Reds NEVER throw inside in order to get batters off the plate. That's a problem with either the coach or the intenstinal fortitude of the individual on the hill. Now, though, the situation SCREAMS for a beanball. Freel takes Benitez deep . Benitez, the following game, nails Freel on the wrist sending an obvious message. Reds are getting their tail kicked last night in the 8th and no one thinks to back up Freel? Very, very disappointing.
