Who was on that 94 Allen Central team?

Those Virgie teams of the late 70's and early 80's would have beat the 94 Allen Central team by 20. JMO and I did see both teams play.

I agree 100% with you about the 1965 Hazard Bulldog team being the best. One other team comes to mind that was pretty tough and I am sure you would agree, that the 1986 Hazard Bulldogs the lost to PRP in the State Semi's would have to be considered IMO!

I agree with this assessment. The '86 team was loaded, and IMHO, should have won their semifinal game over PRP that year. That was one of the worst officiated games ever, particularly in the final quarter. Most of those in attendance seemed to agree as the boos were deftening at the end of the game.

G-Jermey Hall-Wisconsin(big 10 freshman of the year)...was injured the second half against Fairdale, the evential state champ in which they led with only a few minutes remaing.

 

Thomas Jenkins-Morehead State, one of the top 15th region HS players all time.

 

Jason Martin-Named All-State Tourney team, put up like 27pts one game

 

Phillip Patton-was about 6'6 but had about a 7'1 wing span and could play with anyone inside. Could have played at alot of schools in college but things didn't work out for whatever reason.

 

Steve Turner-Solid role player who was a starter

 

Kevin Stumbo-The athlete and defender on that team came off the bench. Had a Scholarship offer from Campbellsville I believe but didn't qualify academically or what ever.

 

Beau Tackett-I believe he was on the team, and he was one of the better guard in the region before he graduated. Another great athlete who also played football.

Thats about all I can think of right now, I don't think Matt Baker came over until the next season from Shelby Valley.

2005 Pendleton County has to be on the all-time 10th region greatest teams! Nine players from that team have went on to college ball and they played strong against the Mason county teams without Elliot. How about putting 03 Mason against 05 Pendleton for the all-time greatest 10th teams, this versioon has all the players in place.

The 1992 University Heights Blazers. Isiah Victor, Marty Cline, Lamount Barnes and i know im leaving some out. Some of the older folks may have a diffirent opinion but that was the best team i saw out of the 2nd region. UHA and Henderson County could have played the best game ever in the regional finals that year at Madisonville high school.

The 1980-1981 Deming team.

The was a team way back I'll say between 1950-1960's that only lost to the Maysville team by 2 in the region and Maysville walked on everyone else and won the state championship, I don't know the year but I'm looking for that and who played back then.

Then you'd have to include the '05 Brossart team that lost a very close 38th district opener to that team, in what may have been the best first round district matchup in 10th region history?? The regional title was a mere formality for the winner of that game!!

The player you are leaving out with the 1992 team is Darren Alleway I believe was his name and he was around 6'9 and was a load on the inside. I believe he signed with Sanford out of high school and not sure how his college days went.

I respect your opinion on this and some may agree but there is no way imo that that team was a good as the Paintsville state championship team from 96', the 98 Paintsville team or even the 94' Allen Central team who w/out a couple bad breaks and injuries could have eaisly won state. I would however rate those Virgie teams as some of the best ever in the 15th as I posted previously.

Well yeah I know, Thats a little before my time though if were going WAY back you could throw them in there as well as some of the Maytown teams and maybe even the Wayland team from the late 50's with Kelly Coleman. I still think the best basketball teams from the 15th range from about 88' untill the time when that great Paintsville team graduated out...jmo

One of the best teams ever in the 15th could also have been the 1970 Johnson Central team that was upset by Wheelwright in the rgional tournament. A few weeks prior to being upset they held a 40+ point lead on this same team. They were also ranked #3 in the state that year. The 1975 Johnson Central team was also ranked #7 at season's end and completely dismantled one of those very good Virgie teams with Todd's brother Mike May by 32 points in the regional final. Not too many teams in 15th region history can boast those state rankings. You just about have to consider either of those teams in the top teams ever to come out of the 15th.

 

The problems with threads asking these questions is that we all consider those teams that we have a direct rememberance from and not some of the prior teams that we never got the chance to see. They are relative to our own personal time spans with what we have observed..
