That's what my kids used to tell me when I would overhear one of their "discussions" that would be taking place at the tops of their lungs. Maybe I should have had their hearing checked.

That is funny because it reminds me of what my kids do when I tell them to quit running in the house. They still move just as fast but they do that silly looking "speed walk" style thing so it doesn't look like "running". I guess they are trying to get off on a technicality.:thumb:

I thought a discussion was where my wife lectured me until I was in agreement with her.

Yea people in the ME just scare me, they have such "high standards" for how you should live your life, and follow the Koran(spelling), and yada yada yada. Yet have just about no regards for your life at the same time, most people are expendable. It's sick.

Who is more revered and respected in our society than doctors? They receive our respect, our gratitude, and a large chunk of our money. Yet, who were the perpetrators of the latest attack in London? I'm not so sure that hearts and minds can be won.

As often as I agree with you Habib, I really have to disagree with you here. It is an ideological war, but not one that we are going to win by changing minds in the Muslim world. It just ain't going to happen. Our biggest failure in the ME is our failure to understand the mindset of the people who live there. They are entrenched in their religion (not necessarily a bad thing) and beliefs. They also come from a culture, much like the rest of Asia, where mercy is considered a sign of weakness. Until we are willing to fight them on their terms, they will consider us a weak people unworthy of living.

Our biggest failure in Iraq has been the lack of understanding of their culture and religion as well as a lack of communication. We didn't sell our cause (or theirs for that matter) to the Iraqi people. We went in with guns blazing and now we're in a mess. I'm not saying we need to throw down our weapons and run, but to expect to hunt and kill every radical is unfeasible. We have to disrupt the terrorist networks and fight them where necessary, but they are going to keep sprouting up unless we have some sort of dialogue within the region to counteract the anti-Americanism that is the inspiration for a great deal of these radicals.
