Tough dude

Interesting series in the Washington Post detailing how Dick Cheney has reinvented the role of the VP. Long read (click on the dropdown to see each day's story).

Interesting read; especially the comments after the article.

I guess the only surprise is that it took the Post so long to do the research and write the story.

So powerful, he gets to pick what branch of government he is part of …

No, he has his own branch...the fourth branch.

It certainly wouldn't take much to be the most powerful vp ever.

No, he has his own branch...the fourth branch.

There is a fourth branch?!?!:D

Well, it looks like he's back with the executive branch. 4-1=3

I agree with Tony Snow "it is a fascinating academic question."

Like him or not, you have to admire Cheney for not succumbing to the concept of what makes him look good. He's steadfast in his beliefs and doesn't seek any credit for any of his achievements (or illegalities as the other side might call them).

The fact that his "approval" ratings are in the teens tells me what I need to know, because in my opinion those polls are inversly proportional to the quality of work the man is doing. 85% of Americans watch Oprah and 15% approve of Dick Cheney's job as V.P. That's just about right on for me.

Does this change the way people vote for President? Does this change how candidates pick their running mate?

YES. Cheney is smarter/more honest/more honorable than 99.9999% of his detractors...and all Americans for that matter...he's right up there with my favorite people of my lifetime...

What? Polls?
