Wireman
Here's my thoughts on the draft: - Seemed like the most fun draft that I've watched in a long while - No Duke players in the first round - Nevada has two players drafted, NCAA's all-time winningest team has ZERO - Where's Shagari? - Josh McRoberts should've stayed at Duke - Big Mouth drops to the second round - should've left last year - Is Noah really a top-10 pick? - 8 players in the national championship game were drafted (maybe talent really does win championships) - Florida's entire team gets drafted (3 top-10's for the first time in history; Is Billy D a great coach or could Buzz Peterson have won a championship with this team?) - The Knicks finally made some good moves on a draft day - Some teams just suck at the draft
newarkcatholicfan
The Spurs got the player I wanted the Lakers to get in the first round.
4chs
Josh to Portland, with Oden....they realize that with a dominant big man, he can be an asset...love him, or hate him, that is true. A good pick at this spot for Portland........and a good place for McRoberts to play as well. The money just won't quite be the same as if he had went pro last year. UKPat02
It makes them a little bit better for now but there is just no point. I just realized it this morning, but the Bobcats also got Jermareo Davidson. That makes it an even better trade for them.

sweet16
The Bobcats need to win now. They've accumulated enough talent that they have no more excuses. JRich helps them win immediately. Why do they need to win now? they are an expansion team and it takes a few years. They need to build with young talent and they just traded away their most talented young player in Wright. newarkcatholicfan
Lakers might have had one of the worst drafts. Round one was a bust but I think round two could be ok.

They get a pass for the first 2 years, but now they need to show improvement. Wright doesn't improve them for 3-4 years. Charlotte fans will get restless soon... bellalumni40
Do they just keep drafting and waiting on people to get better? It's time for the Bobcats to start making moves and winning games and with all the cap space they have they can get another player or two. By adding JRich you immediately add a major scoring threat on the perimeter. It gives them one thing they have really been lacking. Wallace has been a do everything kind of guy, May has been solid when healthy, Okafor could be an all-star soon on a contender, and Felton and Knight are a very good PG combo. JRich immediately elevates their level of play, and add to that they are in the East and they should become a team that could be in the 6 seed to 11 seed in the East with good health and a solid bench. Wright upside means more to a team than Richardson play. They could have kept Wallace and been better down the road.

So say we wait for the full-maturation of Brandan Wright. That would put us in the 2011-2012 season. There has to come a point when you decide the future is now and you need to put up some Ws. Sure, Wright has a nice upside, but JRich is a known quantity with playoff experience.

The bobcats went from about 3-4 million on the cap for Wright to 12 million a year with Richardson. They could have used that extra 9 million a year to sign a good player or to resign wallace and still have more money left. They burned a lot of cap space for a player that is a good player and not a great player.
HammerTime
Jim Rome ripped the Lakers today for their selections. I still don't see Kobe going anywhere. They is just no possible way to get his true value and still have a team left.
bellalumni40
And its not time for him to be great yet. He is hitting that point in his career right now. People forget JRich is just now 26 years old. He can shoot, he's explosive to the basket, and he is a ball player. Don't discount JRich just yet.
