Adolph would have loved Ann Coulter

Yeah, Coach Rupp could be pretty blunt at times himself...

I meant Menjou .

I meant Menjou .
Now that there's funny...

I loved him in 1958's "I Married a Woman". Who knew that only 49 years later, that would be a controversial topic in some states...

At least you didn't say, "Goebbels would have loved Ann." I'd have had a tougher time making light of that one... :thumb:

I think Edwards can win the nomination if he wins in Iowa.

The media is so focused on Hilary, but the American people aren't so narrow minded.

If Edwards wins the nomination (and I agree it is a longshot) he would win the general election.

Edwards is perhaps the least qualified candidate on the democratic ticket... no wait, I meant Obama is perhaps the least qualified candidate on the democratic ticket... no wait, I meant Hillary is perhaps the least qualified candidate on the democratic ticket... no wait...

 :jump:

Ann Coulter is a vicious mean mouthed prune who I wouldn't waste my time reading, watching or listening to a single word she has to say. I know that these people are all out to sell a book, and that's their right, but they don't need to bring people's children, dead or alive, into the conversation.

I'm not going to defend Coulter, she does a fine job of that on her own, but it cracks me up how people take her remarks out of context in order to villify her.

Her comments on Edwards were made following Maher's offensive remarks wishing that Dick Cheney had died in a terrorist attack.

Her point was that instead of other (mild by comparison) remarks she has made about Edwards, she should simply wish (as Maher did about Cheney with no repercussions) that he was killed in a terrorist plot... which, based upon the lack of outcry toward Maher means that such comments are somehow more acceptable.

Her commentary was to illustrate the bias in the media toward liberal speakers and thinking ala Maher. The focus of her comments were directed at Maher more than Edwards.

The fact that you have posted this in outrage over Coulter's comments, without first expressing equal outrage over Maher's original assault on the Vice-president of this nation proves her point.

Like it or not, you have played right into her hands...

I thought you weren't going to defend her? Isn't that what your post just did?

Yet all are more qualified than anyone on the Republican ticket. :thumb:

The same American people that elected George W. Bush TWICE?

Out of context is exactly what it was, he wasn't defending Coulter, just telling the truth. Edwards is the guily party in this one.

Edwards is the guilty party, because someone said they wished he was killed in a terrorist attack? I don't follow...

He's the guilty party because he took what Coulter said out of context. It a common political (especially on the left) ploy.

I don't like Coulter because she is (obviously) over the top and she hinders respectful discourse. When comparing what Coulter said to what Maher said, I conclude that taking each statement literally, Coulter's statement was worse. However, IMHO Coulter said what she said to get a reaction and Maher said what he said because he meant it and so Maher deserves more criticism than Coulter.

We apparently have different definitions of "defending." If IMO I were "defending" Ann Coulter, I would have said something along the lines of, "Ann Coulter is one of the most upstanding commentators on the American scene. She has only the best interests of this country in mind when she points out the hypocrisy and double-dealing she sees so clearly in politics and the media."

I however, have pointed out many times in this thread that I do not agree with her tactics or her manners. I think she is far more caustic than she needs to be, but I have to give her credit for achieving the goals she intends to achieve with her statements.

If that's "defending" her, so be it.

From this moment forward, I will defend Ann Coulter wherever it is reasonable to do so.

I'll start with this link to the events from her side of the story... :thumb:
