... BGreen will be good but down in comparison to the last 2 years...

BG returns their QB, a RB/SS with a DI-A offer, a TE with to many DI-A offers to mention and a WR with offers from South Carolina and Nebraska. That along with a core of very good role players who have seen the field to a good degree hardly makes for a down team. I say they will be every bit as good as last year's squad and will have little trouble untill they get to the carpet.

Just my two cents.

I think they're a good/great team, but little trouble is probably strong. I think the likes of John Hardin, Christian County, Hoptown, Owensboro, and yes, Warren Central will at least pose a challenge.

Hopkinsville won't possess that "star" name/player (E.T., Pulley, Lopez, & Dodd) like they have had the last 8-10 years but they will have more depth thanks in large part to the increase in numbers. Their Offensive Line returns

4 starters and they return 2 of their top 3 RB's from a year ago. The WR position will possess to potential playmakers in Junior Darrick Dillard who transferred in from Atlanta and Vic Moulden who transferred to Hopkinsville from Ft. Campbell a year ago. Kyle Graham & Logan Adams give the offense 2possession WR's neither is going to out run any defense. Antwon Crayton 6'2 180 TE/WR will get the early call at TE. He's a physical player that likes going over the middle. If he can give the offense some pass catching consistency it will keep things open on the outside. Then that will allow the running game to eat up yardage. Cardell McGregor and Joe Harris both saw lots of action last year at the RB & FB positions but this year will be asked to carry more of the load. DeShawn Johnson will get his RB reps. A small speedy runner with good lower body strength. Marshall Stewart 6'2 180 will be the man under center. Smart and physical QB. Possesses a good and accurate arm. Will allow Hopkinsville to still utilize the QB in their running game but not a QB that will out athlete opposing defenses.

Defensively they will be solid. Last year Hopkinsville relied on 7 sophomores to either start or be 1st rotation players. Transfer Dee Allen gives them quickness, strength, and an attitude up front. The LB core has good upside especially if Joe Harris could emerge and lign up next to Jacob Johnson and allow Cardell McGregor to move back to his natural position of SS. Hopkinsville could have a 19 man rotation on defense when it's all said and done and compared to years past that's huge for Hoptown. The defensive play will be key at the Safety positions.

This Hoptown team won't have the speed burners they've had over the years but will still be above average in the speed category. They have the potential to have a strong season and do well in the playoffs especially if Marshall Stewart keeps progressing along.

I am definetly looking forward to the Lincoln v. Mercer game. Its a battle of each schools former head coach, neither of which are too schabby. Should be a barnburner and a rivalry for some years to come.

Seems pretty quiet around Mercer. Anyone have any thoughts? Are they a contender?

Mercer returns most of their O-line and D-line. They will be very solid up front on both sides of the ball. They also return a lot of talent at LB. They will be very hard to run against.

Both the offensive backs and defensive backs are Mercer's question mark. They lost a senior QB, two senior running backs, and four senior DBs.

Jackson and Ford will be missed, but between McCloud, Griffith, Mayes, Yeast, etc Mercer will once again be a very good running team. QB has a lot of folks worried, Short is probably a better pure athlete than Morgan. He is going to make some great plays during the season. He's also going to make some horrible ones, and he has to learn to do all of the little things. Mercer will miss their steady senior QB, he wasn't flashy, but he sure did run the machine.

The other question mark is at DB. Jaggers will have some tough choices here. He doesn't like to play his QB or RBs on the defensive side of the ball. Problem is, the kids who played all of the back up minutes at DB are going to be in the offensive back field this year.

Will be an interesting year. I think Mercer can win their region(just an observation, not a prediction). I don't know how far they can challege beyond that. They will be very hard to run against, and it will be very hard to stop them from running.

Hope that helps a bit.

Hoptown and John Hardin yes, I agree could be tough. Christian, Owensboro and Central, I doubt will give them much of a game.

Not sure how BG will fair this year, but with the D1 talent they have on their squad, I bet they will be very entertaining to watch. It will be up to these gifted athletes to get the rest of the team to rally 'round them. If they can play as a team - watch out!

Yeah, I believe that will be a great game. I'm pretty sure it's at Mercer this season. Sept. 7th I believe.

I would not be surprised to see Dixie be a major player this year.

Dixie will be very senior oriented, and a serious contender this year.

Hoptown and John Hardin yes, I agree could be tough. Christian, Owensboro and Central, I doubt will give them much of a game.

John Hardin played in the Male 7 on 7, missing several key players. They beat Eastern and Male lost to Central. Speed will not be a problem for the bulldogs, they played two sophmore's at QB which faired well. I look for John to fair well not having to play the big three in L'ville to make to state.

Completly agree and they have a lot of speed.

Mercer county is a team to be reckon with, they will have a non-district schedule and district schedule that will help them get ready for the play-offs. WKY is due, BG does not have to battle any Catholics this year. JC's had a taste, and will want some more. Also, either John Hardin, Whitley or Clay could be a sleeper.

BG will have to deal with CCH if both should happen to go that far.. I do think BG is alot better than what they've shown the last 2 years in the finals, but, do seem to peak to early and there district schedule has been horrendous, so, they've sort of coasted the 2nd half of the season.. I think most would agree, if BG can compete toe to toe with ST X early in the year, they can compete with anyone and I believe the toughness of there new region will help them stay sharp throughout the year and into the playoffs.. They could be very dangerous..
