It's the foundation of the entire AL Central, and they are now considered the best overall division in the game. Not sure why I keep ramming my head into a wall day after day on something people clearly can't grasp... So you're off the Minn plan now? If not, how long did it take for them to have a divisional winner. I think fans should know what to expect.

How was that not clear? As far as when you can expect a winner, your guess is as good as mine. The Twins have always had a fruitful minor league system so they worked on a much easier building curve. I know for a fact the pitching depth in the Reds organization has not been better in my lifetime, so within the next 2 years I expect a much better product on the field. Add in about $30 million per season to spend wisely by 09 and there is no excuse at that point...
June 12, 200719 yr I'd take Bailey over Bonderman and Verlander....I can't agree, on a Bailey over Verlander, sorry....Not even Bonderman. In time, I hope he becomes an excellent MLB pitcher but if given a choice today, I select Verlander between the two. I know for a fact the pitching depth in the Reds organization has not been better in my lifetime, so within the next 2 years I expect a much better product on the field. Add in about $30 million per season to spend wisely by 09 and there is no excuse at that point...I hope you're right, about the farm system depth and I just don't see this franchise, as on a 4-year plan, for the '09 season.

In 2009 he'll be making at least $15M a year. I like him, but for his sake and the betterment of the franchise I would trade him to the AL for a right handed bat and young arms. June 12, 200719 yr Author Maybe it's worth a shot, but all I've heard is his play in the field leaves a lot to be desired at 1B and LF. I would start Hopper/Hobbs/Junior every day and bring Dickerson up as a bench OF that can play all 3 positions. If you aren't going to play Votto every day leave him where he is... What about Hamilton?

June 12, 200719 yr Ah yes. The Tigers. The team that had patience with a change at the top. The Tigers that let players develop while slowly adding talent piece by piece until they were a legit contender. Sounds like a great plan. That's why I like the idea of the Reds following it... You know I have to point out that one of those pieces was the player that a lot of posters on here wanted out of Cincinnati because he didn't produce enough and ONLY hit .300.
