Is Timmy Knipp's ankle injury an aggravated injury from the state tournament?

 

Knipp is about 6'4" and would have been a big lift for Elliott in the Fern Creek game.

Ankle injuries are not anything to mess with. This could be a re-occurring problem for Knipp all throughout his high school career. I hope he can recover as he seems to be a special player from the Mountains.

Cumberland beat Tates Creek and Franklin-Simpson without Senior Guard/Forward Brooks Hogue who was also out with an ankle sprain that was suffered against Sayre.

Yes. He sprained the same ankle during an AAU practice earlier in the year and has not been on it since. I think he is expected to play next week at Fairview team camp. He is now about 6'6" and a key part Elliott Co's team.

Tates Creek was also without their best player, Sparks.

The big Knipp kid would not have helped much this game because the difference was quickness. Elliott tried to play man "D" against a much quicker team and could not. They switched to the zone to late after being down by 10. Tim Knipp would not have been able to help them on the D end. Plus Fern Creek being much quicker on their D side of the ball with their man to man Elliott could not get any half court offensive sets at all. The only O they had was Ethan Faulkner taking it to the bucket.

JBS played pretty well, they beat a good Fern Creek team, and a good Cawood team. JBS made it to the semi finals where they lost to Scott County 74-71. Last year Scott County beat JBS in the same tournament by over 60 points. JBS was down by 15 at halftime and 17 at the start of the 2nd half. They came back and tied the game at 70, but couldnt come any closer than that. If JBS can put together a whole game like the second half, they could be very very good, i see them making it back to Rupp, and making some serious noise.

Whitaker and Warren were with Knox Central. I don't think it's final yet where they will be for the regular season. Knox Central is probably the leading candidate with North Laurel also in the mix.

Actually, Elliott Co just played their normal game. The scored several times on back door cut, transition, and off shooting the three. While at times, I agree, Elliott Co did struggle to set up their sets but this is the summer time you can't expect teams to be able to run plays to perfection. I dont think Elliott Co. done anything horrible but just didnt do anything great. I also think that Elliott Co took Fern Creek's best game. Fern Creek hit several threes in this game that they did not hit in other games. Plus, like I said before, Timmy Knipp did not play. And he would have been a major factor in this game. While I do agree that his on the ball defense may not have been able to help them win but his help defense is what would have been key in this game. When guards are able to penatrate Elliott Co. defense Timmy Knipp is there to block shots. He is the only true shot blocker on the Elliott Co team. He is also one of the teams best rebounder. Not to mention what he brings to the table on the offensive end. He gives them a post presence outside of Ferguson, who also plays a lot on the wing, that Elliott Co did not have this tourney.

Whitaker played for KnoxCC, they looked very good especially in the Scott Co game. I only saw parts of their other games & based on what I saw I would say they were one of the top 3 teams there. The big Soph - Cody ? (cannot remember his last name) is very impressive! Based on his play from what I saw they only thing Dakota Euton has on him is 3 inches of height & maybe shoots a touch better. Cody moves better & has better feet at this time. Really impressive. Do not know who can stop KnoxCC from taking the 13th this year.

Knox Central plays sparatic, some games they r very impressive others they are not. Cumberland beat them by 60 idk how they faired on other 13th region teams during the summer though. All of the 13th region teams played extremely IMO at the State Tourny. And yes Cody Miller is a match-up nightmare

How do you get Knox Central being one of the top three teams in the tournament when they lost two games?

 

Also, Cody is a very good player and athlete, but there is a huge difference in the level of play between Cody and Dakotah. Just ask Gillespie.

 

Knox will be hard to beat in the 13th if the two players from Bell Co. play with them. It's good to get two players of that quality to jump into the starting lineup and make an instant impact. Good luck to Knox, they have a very good team.
