October 7, 201312 yr Yeah we ate there. Cornbread was strong... I went by yesterday and tried the pulled pork. I would agree, nothing special (not near a as good as Eli's). Will give it another shot or two. I got lost in the thread...where are you guys talking about?

October 20, 201312 yr A new BBQ joint in Newport...not on the Levee but just off Monmouth St. Finally got to Southern Smoke last night. Disappointing would be putting it mildly. Maybe they need to work the kinks out, but one of the worst dining experiences in my life. They were out of numerous things on the menu, including ribs and chicken. I wound up getting a mediocre hamburger. Wife got brisket that was luke warm. Mac and cheese was stone cold. Draft beer was flat. Lady that waited on us was not in the right line of work. Place kind of smelled funny, couldn't quite place what the odor was. But alas, cornbread was good. Gonna try Elis next.

January 17, 201412 yr Went to Nada for the first time. Loved the atmosphere and the setting. Great service. Interesting food. I had a pork belly taco that was tasty. Issue is value. Two taco dinners, one appetizer, a margarita, and two beers. $75 with tip. Seemed a bit much for "pretty good" tacos.

With it being downtown, you're going to pay "downtown prices" unfortunately. Did you get the angry mac & cheese? If not, you need to go back & get it. Simply incredible.
February 2, 201412 yr Went to Piada's in the Hyde Park Plaza night. Someone described it as "an Italian Chipotle." Solid analogy. I had the grilled chicken piada and it was very tasty.
