Duncan's teams beat Shaq's teams from time to time. Duncan isn't as big and powerful as Shaq, but he simply gets the job done and wins. Who the better player is between the 2 over their careers is still up in the air IMO. I think Duncan is very close to even being a top 10 player in NBA history. I think he is one of the best ever but he isn't even one of the top 3 LAKERS of all time (Kareem, Magic, Shaq). That really hurts his stock.

That really hurts his stock. That's the kind of crap that never makes sense. Penalize a guy because the organization he played for produced some amazing talent. If we're truly evaluating an individual, his team's history (championships or other great players) is irrelevant.

Seriously the only arguement Malone wins is "Who sets better screens?" Duncan wasn't/isn't great because of his supporting cast. Malone played with one of the best PG's to ever play.

I would suggest that you know not what you speak of in regards to Malone if you think he was a picker only. He could take the ball out further than TD. He handled it better. He averaged for HIS CAREER 25 and 10. His J was better.

Of course today's players are better athletes - bigger and stronger. That's irrelevant to the discussion. We're comparing their effectiveness WHEN THEY PLAYED. By your logic, every "pretty good" player by today's standards would make the HOF because they were bigger/faster/stronger than Bob Pettit or #99 for the Lakers.

I think that Shaq is more dominating as far as just dominating a basketball game at his peak. My point is for the past 10 years night in and night out, winning championships, being the man on his team, making teammates better, etc Duncan is at the top. As far as my top 10 list it was hard to leave Hakeem Olijawon, Karl Malone, and several more great players off the list.

I was saying Duncan is better. Bigger, stronger, better. Wilt's in the top ten as is Russell. It's center heavy.
