Duncan and Kobe are even on championships (for now), but Kobe won his when Shaq was maybe as unstoppable as anyone has ever been on a basketball court. If you were starting a team from scratch, which one would you rather have? I'd take Duncan hands down.

Ginobili and Parker weren't even close to all-stars in 02-03 and Duncan and the Spurs still rolled through every team in their way in route to the championship. Duncan doesn't have to have all-stars around him to win.

If the debate is truly over the most talented 4 in NBA history, the number of TEAM championships is irrelevant. If the debate is "how do I set it up so that Tim Duncan comes out as the #1 4 man" then place a high value on a TEAM achievement. I go with the former.

You ever think being the most talented isn't about having the best numbers? Karl Malone had some very good teams around him and NEVER got a championship. Tim Duncan is much better at making the guys around him better.

June 1, 200719 yr Duncan brings out the best in his players and his attitude is light years ahead of Kobe's, just look at how Kobe is handling things with the press right now. Without Shaq, Kobe does not get any of those titles. Duncan got his with an aging David Robinson and then with a team of good but not great players on the others. No doubt Kobe is very talented but he is not better than Duncan and while Duncan will most likely go down as the greatest power forward in history, Kobe will go down as a great player at his position but no way as the best of all time.
June 1, 200719 yr Duncan didn't have to deal with Jordan.....If Duncan were playing at that time, he'd have zero rings as well. Jordan and the Bulls won 6 championships, Karl Malone was in the league way longer than six years. He had his chances and didn't get it done. Not even once...
June 1, 200719 yr Author Here is the thing. Kobe Bryant was the 2nd best player on his team for his 3 championships. Tim Duncan has been the man for his team every season.
