May 29, 200719 yr Getting ready to buy a two man ladder stand for me and my son. Looking for the best one at the best price, any suggestions.
May 29, 200719 yr I have owned several, but I bought one at Sam's made by gorilla last August, has the double ladder which makes it so much more sturdy, has fold up seats (individual not bench) with removable gorilla "air ride" cushions, padded shooting rail and a roll of blind material with ties. So far, it has been my fave.
May 29, 200719 yr Here, check this one out from API. It's the cadillac of 2man stands. And it is priced accordingly. http://www.apioutdoors.com/65188.html?cmid=api_65188

The one man stands are not too bad but the two man deals have some weight to them and if not careful you will snap the ladder connections while lifting them into place. I suggest using a rope and tying it to the platform on the ground and lasso it over a branch near where the seat will hit. With one guy pulling the rope from behind the tree you are going to use and have one guy at the base holding the bottom rung with his feet and the other guy walking the ladder into place. If there is an easier way to erect these things then I would like to know since I failed miserably yesterday and I along with a buddy tried to lift one into place and the mere weight of thing snapped the ladder section at the connection. Take note that there are sleeves that the mfr include for a reason where these ladder section are connected. Use them, we didnt and snapola. Once installed though, I love the idea of a two man ladder stand for my son and I from a comfort standpoint and safety issues. You can get pretty fancy also with the skirts and the rain canopies that either come with it or buy separately. I for one am getting too old for the lock on stands hanging 30 ft in the air. To answer your question though, you really cant go wrong with any ladder stand.

Great advice, that's exactly how we do it, tie the rope to the back of the stand as you set the ladder legs where you want them and begin walking the stand up, we actually pulled the last one up by ATV on the other side of the tree and left it tied while I climbed up to secure the ratchet strap to the frame around the black oak we hung it in. No doubt, 2 man stands are at least a 2 man proposition when putting them up. 3 is better. A crane would be best!
October 23, 200718 yr Last amount of good advice I give the tree stand guys is if you were a wedding ring or other rings dont climb a tree with these on. I was coming down a tree last year and at the last step (screw in steps with lock on stand) I jumped the remaining 2 1/2 feet and guess what, I hung my wedding ring on the steel screw in step above and just about lost my finger. I guess all my good advice comes from my own stupidity and trial and error.

October 26, 200718 yr Stud! I've been to two Worlds Fairs and three Goat gatherings and I've never heard or seen anything like it. I think I will go to YouTube and do a search for such happenings. Maybe there is some footage on there. Right next to Bill Dance Outtakes!
