Who will Newports next coach be

Featured Replies

My money is on Scott Meyer!

Scott would be an excellent choice and well deserving of the oppurtunity. He could continue the work John left unfinnished without the kids being put out by having to get used to yet another new coach. He has coached there for I believe 10 years or more.

He has been an assistant for a while now. Prolly close to 10 years like you said.

Scott began coaching at Newport in '98 under Roy Lucas

Could Steve Hensley be a candidate? I know he was one of the leading candidates last time this job was open, and it came down to him and Schlarman and they choose Schlarman. I know Hensley has already been an assistant coach there, and probably still has some ties to the school. Now I not even sure if he would be interested in the job now since he just started at Taylor High School last year, but if he would be interested then I would think he probably would end up being one of the top candidates again...

I dont know who the coach will be, but i know that they have 3 good ones inside the building. Meyers, Ritter, and Hyder. I can say Hensley was a good one to pick, but the last time he was not the 2nd choice. I hope that they pick one soon and before June starts. Does anyone know if they have anyone from outside applied yet?

I'm about 95% sure the head coach was chosen today as Coach Hyder he is a great guy and will be a wonderful fit.

Steve Hensly is not going anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!! He is staying at Taylor trying to build something special there.

If he was then good for him. I know I wouldnt want to be the guy on his team that didnt hustle, because he's the guy that is definently going to give you a butt chewing no doubt. He coaches with a ton of passion whether it be on the gridiron or the baseball diamond.

Heard that Pikeville HC Jackson has thrown his hat into the ring.

Interesting.

Heard that Pikeville HC Jackson has thrown his hat into the ring.

If true, he's probably the leading contender. I've been a fan since I first watched his Oldham Co. team play . He has the ability and , more importantly, has the right goals in mind for the young men he spends so much time with.

I'd hire him today if I'm Newport.

Ive heard that Jim Hyder has already been hired as HC.

I heard that too at the baseball game last night. I didnt know that they were staying inside. But good luck and congrats Coach Hyder.

It certainly hasn't been posted for 30 days. The administration in place at Newport seems to play a little loose with the rules. Maybe this will be the time it bites them in the butt.

30 day posting only applies to teaching positions it does not apply to coaching positions. They are not playing loose with the rules. :fight:

How about the residence of the superintendent? Is that playing loose with the rules. :D
