Rich Witten or Ben Revere

....:thumb: Not fair to compare these players, as they play different positions and each, offer unique skills to their team.

Any HS team in Kentucky, would like to have either/both. They will both do well, in college.

But how will they do at the pro's if they get drafted?

Too early, big step from High School to Minor League....big step.

Revere is the REAL DEAL!!!!! He is the best player in the state of Kentucky. Witten is a very good high school pitcher, but what teams has he beaten. Revere and Catholic have played one of the (if not) the toughest schedules in the state. Where is Witten going to college? Who has offered him?

Witten is attending Coastal Carolina. He's also, a very good hitter, with excellent power.

All of the scouts are talking about about Ijames from O Cath. as being a better pro prospect than Witten. If you talk about the best players in the state, especially hitters then Ijames is right up there with both of these guys.

I agree, Ijames is going to make a great player. He is one of the top hitters in the state and has to be mentioned along with Witten and Revere. I think people tend to forget about him because he is not from louisville or central kentucky.

I agree that Revere is the real deal and has more appeal to pro scouts at this point in time. But it is not fair to compare high school schedules. Catholic has much more overall talent and also is a 3A school. Witten also impresses during the summer leagues where he plays some of the top talent around.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt Ijames play for the elite Midland team that grabs players from all over the country?

If thats the case, then I believe Ijames will turn out to be a pretty good ball player...

Yes, He played with them last summer. He has pop in his bat that you can't teach.

Only saw one game but was not impressed by Witten. However, everything I have heard about Revere is incredible.

Sorry that Witten wasn't able to put on a show for you. Probably didn't have a great weekend at the plate and you didn't get to see him pitch because he had just pitched vs. Bishop Brossart putting the Ads in the All A Statewide Tourney throwing 7 innings, giving up 5 hits, 1 earned run and a 10 K's.

From what I have heard about Revere, he is a great player as well.

Witten has signed with Costal Carolina, as noted by Strike3.

I believe Witten is now 8-0 this season with wins against the following teams:

Russell County

Doss

Male

Somerset

Boyle County

Anderson County

Bishop Brossart

Southwestern

Any team would love to have either of these players. If you were making me choose, I would take Witten. He not only would help offensively and deffensively, as Revere does, but he also is one of the top pitchers in the state. There has not been many players ever in Kentucky that have put up the numbers he has hitting and pitching. Now if you are talking who is going to get drafted higher it wll be Revere because he runs a 6.3 60 yard time.

On the high school level, Witten is the more valuable player because of his pitching.

From all accounts, Revere is the better prospect at the college level and beyond. Anybody that saw last year's state tournament knows that Revere has great speed and quite an arm.

I have seen Revere and Witten both play several times. Revere is a phenomenon. He plays against the best competition day in and day out and always stands out on the field, whether it be football or baseball. He is the Michael Bush of Kentucky right now... Witten is a very good player as well; but, he is no-where near 94 mph (I had a gun on him vs Anderson County 2 weeks ago) 87mph max. This could be low because he has pitched a bunch this year and he could be getting a dead arm. However, Witten is a good high school hitter with excellent power. Keep in mind that the 8 wins he has pitching are against average to slightly above average competition. Revere hits every day against top-notch pitching (if he's not intentionally walked to only steal 2nd and 3rd in the next 2 pitches.) Don't get me wrong, both are going to be good college players (unless Revere never goes to College) and both have the potential to get drafted. BY THE WAY, ANYONE WANT TO PLAY IN CATHOLIC'S DISTRICT, I KNOW 5 TEAMS THAT WOULD SWITCH YOU, (INCLUDING CATHOLIC).

Witten appeared to be throwing about 87-90 when Danville beat St. Mary at Applebee's Park in last year's All A Classic.

If he was throwing 94, he would be signed with an SEC school and be a high-round draft pick.
