April 25, 200719 yr Smart decision, set a precedent for the "fence" players, meaning players who may or may not get the guaranteed contract to stay in school and work on your game, not to mention the education. I know there is only ONE NBA, but there are plenty of places to play semi-pro ball and make money if the NBA didn't work out. Have a degree and something to go to if pro ball doesn't work out. He will be an NBA player. Maybe a role player and not a starter but I look for him to have a 10+ year NBA career.

He felt that a combination of factors - notably a very strong draft this year and another year at UT to diversify his game - gave him the chance to move from a mid second-round pick to a mid to late first round pick next year. I think he listened to the right people and made the correct choice.
April 26, 200719 yr I honestly think he will end up like Trajan Langdon in the league. That's a possibility, but I think Lofton is working hard to develop his all-around game and not just coast by as a shooter. Langdon was a shooter, but not much else.

Langdon had ALOT better teams to play on. Chris has another year to develop and will probably end up playing PG in the league. Why is it that everyone has to compare Chris to a player from dUKe??? He is his own player and just because other players fail doesn't mean he will. Show some optimism!
April 26, 200719 yr Lofton will NOT play PG in the leauge. He has never shown that he has the handles or the instinct to be a PG in the NBA. He is a 2 guard and a shooter first. That is his best asset... not passing. Judging by your name your are a mason county fan. Not being from Mason County, i think I have the benefit of looking at this from an unbiased perspective... Lofton is a great shooter and a great college player... but does not have the handles or instinct to be a PG and does not have the height or all around game to be a 2 guard. He will probably end up like Langdon. That of course is going on his play at UT for the last 3 years. If he comes out this season and shows improvement in his overall game then I may be wrong. I just dont see how he can make a move to PG.

April 26, 200719 yr His size is the reason he will play point? You have to have the handles and passing ability as well. You cant just say... well Im 6'1 I get to play PG. Lofton is and always will be a shooter and a scorer. Thats his mentality and it has served him well... he is a great player. But, that doesnt mean he can make the transition to play point.
