April 26, 200719 yr His size is the reason he will play point? You have to have the handles and passing ability as well. You cant just say... well Im 6'1 I get to play PG. Lofton is and always will be a shooter and a scorer. Thats his mentality and it has served him well... he is a great player. But, that doesnt mean he can make the transition to play point. His size will force him to play point. He just can't guard some of the SG's in the league. He has good passing ability right now and will work on his handles. He is a good shooter but there are pleanty of good shooters who are also PG's. He can score and play point at the same time. It will be a tough transition but he will have to make it to be able to last long in the league.
April 26, 200719 yr Oh I see what you are saying now. I definately agree with you that the transition to point is something he will definately have to do to last in the NBA. What I am saying is that it is a transition I do not believe he can sucessfully make. He is a shooter and a scorer, not a passer. You cant suddenly develop a feel for an aspect of the game that you never had before.
April 26, 200719 yr Lofton will NOT play PG in the leauge. He has never shown that he has the handles or the instinct to be a PG in the NBA. He is a 2 guard and a shooter first. That is his best asset... not passing. Judging by your name your are a mason county fan. Not being from Mason County, i think I have the benefit of looking at this from an unbiased perspective... Lofton is a great shooter and a great college player... but does not have the handles or instinct to be a PG and does not have the height or all around game to be a 2 guard. He will probably end up like Langdon. That of course is going on his play at UT for the last 3 years. If he comes out this season and shows improvement in his overall game then I may be wrong. I just dont see how he can make a move to PG. The hi lighted quote is why I will simply ignore your posts from now on. April 26, 200719 yr I do watch him play and as I have said he is a great shooter.. but I will not concede that he is a great passer (adequate at best) or can make the transition to play point in the NBA. Me eyes dont see it and his stats dont show it. 1.9 assists per game as his highest ever in 3 years at UT does not prove that he is a great passer.

If he was not busy dropping 20+ a game he would be able to pad his stats elsewhere. If you have watched him play then you would know that this kid can see the court exceptionally well. I agree that he will not play PG in the NBA at a level that will make him a starter. He does however read and understands the game at the highest level. To say that he lacks the "instincts" is absurd or is it you do not know the meaning of instincts?

Laughable!!! sub 4.5 forty and he's not fast enough. Ask those who have to guard him and what will they tell you? " He's alot faster than appears to be"
