April 24, 200719 yr Pujols got a ton of attention for it last year... There was a lot of hype that he was going to break the single season record, and then his injury kind of put a hold on everything. A-Rod will get more, though, because he's on the Yankees... And ESPN loves them. I'm not saying he didn't get a lot because he did, but compared to A-Rod it seemed like he got zero. However, your comments about being in New York and getting more media attention are exactly on target. The sad thing is after Pujols went down last year, everyone seemed to forget his accomplishments and you never really heard from him untill the season was out.
April 24, 200719 yr 13 of A-Rod's home runs have came off fastballs. The other came against a curve ball.
April 24, 200719 yr If there's a lineup for him to break the record batting in (not saying that he's going to do it) then this is the one... The protection he has will be enough to keep getting him pitches.
April 24, 200719 yr 13 of A-Rod's home runs have came off fastballs. The other came against a curve ball. Just when pitchers finally figure out not to throw him fastball's, Rod figures out how to jack curve balls. Funny how things work when you are as dialed in as he is. I think you could roll it to the plate and he could find a way to take it yard, thats how on fire he is right now.
April 24, 200719 yr I'm a Yankee fan, but let's see him do it in the playoffs for a change. I agree, I'm not an A-Rod basher, but for all the great numbers he has put up as a Yankee, he has struggled in the post season. Well, the whole offense has struggled. So he can hit 192 home runs with 400 RBI's, if he hits 0 home runs in the postseason and they lose, guess who they are going to blame for choking again. Might not be fair, but that's the way it works.

April 24, 200719 yr Author I think the Yankees will be just fine. The offense is fine. A-Rod is on fire and they ae averaging 5 runs a game the past 6 games i believe. Mussina will be back in 9 days and Wong will be back within the next week as well. Let's not forget they started 11-19 last year and still won the AL East.
April 24, 200719 yr LRCW....Duh!!! Its April. Man I haven't "DUHED" anybody in a long time. We play the Cry Sox at least 15 more times and if you noticed we scored plenty of runs at Fenway, now the D-Rays worry me whats up with that situation?

Plenty enough to get swept, if the Yankees pitching continues to allow a .360 batting average and almost 8 runs a game like they have the last 4 games their whole lineup will have to hit like A-Rod to have a chance. You'll get no crying out of the Sox.
April 24, 200719 yr Joe, I heard the crying Sox cry most of my life. "Bucky had no right to hit that homer". I could go on and on, but most of us have heard them. We have two starters who are on the DL and like I said once its April.

New York went about their business and just kept playing and when everybody got healthy went on their run at the end of the year. The Red Sox had their injuries late and whined about "what ifs" and such and then finished third in the division. The Yankees just seem to have a way to get it done, and you referring to 1978 with the Bucky Dent homer is a great example of that. They were down 14 games on July 19th that year and won the division, pennant and world series. Never can count them out. :dancingpa
April 24, 200719 yr I hope that he does! I agree. Would be nice for someone other than Pumpkin Head Bonds to have the record.
