"We're going to invest in relationships," Gillispie said. "That's what's going to make us special." Former Texas A&M assistant Jeremy Cox has been making recruiting calls on UK's behalf and is expected to be named an assistant at UK. Jerrance Howard said he's joining the staff in an administrative role, having served in a similar role at Texas A&M. He played at Illinois when Gillispie was an assistant there under Bill Self. Now the burning question. If they investing in relationships, will Dr. Phil be joining the staff?
April 11, 200719 yr Author You just have to love this guy... From my view, he is making all the right moves on the coaching front.
April 11, 200719 yr Anybody else notice the little shot that Gillispie took at Tubby towards the end of the article in the CJ (print version) this a.m.? He said "you're not going to take an average center if you can get a great wing-or I'm not".
April 11, 200719 yr From an outsider just reading your posts from all the UK fans out there. It doesnt seem to me that UK fans are that interested in relationships. Are you willing to trade championships for relationships? I highly doubt it.

Are you willing to trade championships for relationships? I highly doubt it. Well UK hasn't had either for a while now, and you can't trade away what you don't have. Also, a HUGE part of success on the floor is the relational aspect. Why do you think UF has been so good? A huge reason is because they LIKE to play with each other. They're not just out for themselves. Seems to me that Gillispie is working on creating an atmosphere like that.

Maybe he can also cousel all the bashers :sssh: , Nah, no one could help that - it will go on forever . (couldn't resist that one)
April 11, 200719 yr Billy is getting a lot of hype, expectations are rising again and if he does not produce quickly he will no longer be the toast of the town. I think the honey moon will end quick.
April 11, 200719 yr Billy is getting a lot of hype, expectations are rising again and if he does not produce quickly he will no longer be the toast of the town. I think the honey moon will end quick. The realistic fans will be patient and understand it's going to take some time for him to get better quality players in the system and for the current players to get used to his style...The unrealistic ones will never be happy, regardless of what happens, so, who cares what they think?
April 11, 200719 yr Thanks pancake for the honesty. That is exactly how I feel. Coaching at UK does one thing for me, helps out the IRA.
