HHSDawgs1424 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 After Bonds breaks Aaron's homerun record, could it be A-Rod who next breaks Bonds record and becomes THE greatest player ever? A-Rod currently has 469 homeruns at age 31. Even if he were to only hit 30 homeruns this season (which is highly unlikely), and hit 30 every year for the next 10 years, he would still pass Hammerin' Hanks Homerun record and only be 40 years old which would still give him 2 or 3 more years to play. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Rodriguez has hit more home runs (five) in the team's first six games than any Yankee before him. What do you all think? Could A-Rod be the only player EVER to hit 800 in their career? (BTW, A-Rod is on pace for 135 HR's this season and 351 R.B.I:lol: )
saint4 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I think it is a lock for A-Rod to be the best player in the history of the game. For a few years, until he came to the Yankees, he was a gold-glove candidate player every single year. He has a chance to hit 850 homeruns if he leaves the pressure of the Bronx. When it is all said and done, A-Rod will be the best player that ever played the game.
The Breeze Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I could see A-Rod breaking the record eventually, only time will tell
PutMeInCoach Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I could see A-Rod breaking the record eventually, only time will tell I agree. A-rod has everything it takes to become the best of all time.
HHSDawgs1424 Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 If he can stay healthy he will break it. I think that's the biggest question. A-Rod has avoided injuries throughout his career and I think playing third base and not the outfield like Bonds and even Griffey, whom we talked about 7 years ago when he hit #400 at age 30, will help him play a little longer and avoid injury. One thing's for sure. A-Rod will be the youngest player ever to reach 500 HR's which he should reach by the end of this season. Also Rodriguez has an advantage of being a DH his last say 5 years which will also help him avoid injury.
fieldhousekrayzie21 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I could see A-Rod breaking the record eventually, only time will tell Thats what we said about Griffey too...
HHSDawgs1424 Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 Thats what we said about Griffey too... Exactly. I think A-Rod has a little bit more of an advantage though playing the infield and not outfield. Most of Griffey's injuries have come from hustling after fly balls. While the same could happen with A-Rod, it's much less likely and if he does get injured he could come back sooner than Griffey has had to sit out because he has the option of being a DH.
saint4 Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Yeah, still, A-Rod is averaging like 152 games per season. If he keeps up that pace, he will be great.
oldrambler Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I would hope that someone breaks Balco Barry's false record in the future................anyone, imo A-Rod may have the best chance to do it.
HammerTime Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Well he is now 1 more closer. He just hit another one.
HHSDawgs1424 Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 Well he is now 1 more closer. He just hit another one. If A-Rod keeps up the pace he's at now, we may see him break not only the all time record, but also the single season record as well. If he's going to do it anywhere, that Yankee lineup is where it's going to happen.
saint4 Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Just stay with the Yanks, Please. He does not want that pressure. He has more pressure on him there that Tubby did at UK.
Italian Stallion Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 The day he passes Bonds will be the happiest day of my life.
