I'm interested in seeing if he can still land the type of recruits he got at A&M. The Kentucky name and new practice facility may help him a lot with the recruits but some kids just want to go to an in state school no matter how many other offers they get.

 

My favorite trait so far about Coach G. is his personality. He really has a fan friendly personality and I love it. I could see myself setting at a table with him , glass of whiskey in hand playing some cards or something (of course we'd catch a cab home). I cant say that I thought that of Tubby. I think his personality and dedication will land him some great recruits. He really seems like a Kentucky guy. He's got that southern accent and just a swagger about himself. I like it.

 

I love everything I've heard about his work ethic. Can't complain about a guy who spends every waking hour trying to make his team better.

Why would you boo a guy that showed loyalty to his team and school. He has built something there and wants to stay. It's not a slap at UK, it's loyalty to Florida. I respect him for staying.

I agree 100%. Billy Chose the oportunity to build his own legacy at UF rather than be a part of the tradition UK already has. No shame in that.

 

You will hear boos the next time UF visits Rupp but I'm sure UF is going to hear boos when they walk on to any opponets court.

I hope I do not hear boos for Billy D when he visits Rupp... that would be a total lack of class for UK fans (unless it's just superficial jousting). The real UK fans should welcome the opportnity for redemption. Anyway, to switch gears, welcome to the hot seat Billy G.

Because it's UK, and many people's ego probably took a hit when he turned down the job...It may be a minority, but I promise they'll be heard...

I wish Billy G. well. Basketball is much different than it was in the Adolph Rupp era with the level of great competitive schools and the 24/7 news media pressure, etc.

 

If he loses a couple of games in Rupp the fans think he should have won,the honeymoon will end abruptly. Anyone one can last 10 years on the job must be pretty good. Hey, look how it aged both Pitino and Tubby,

He is very good with the media and fans...this should give him more time and patience from the potential bashers.

Personally I was never really comfortable with Billy D in Consideration for the UK job.A couple of weeks ago GT brought up some good points about Billy G. which made me think this guy may be a good fit at UK.:thumb:
