April 6, 200719 yr Summitt is a good coach but does anyone really believe she would be taken seriously in the men's game? If she could get players, I think she could be successful.
April 6, 200719 yr I hope he gets it as well! I know he'd do a great job and definitely deserves the opportunity. Its good to see an eastern Kentucky guy do well!! Best of luck John we're pulling for ya!!!:thumb:
April 6, 200719 yr Cam. That woman can flat coach. If she could coach at the boys side she would realistically win 20-24 instead of 27-29 each year. Takes a little longer to get to get to 1200 wins which I feel like she will get before she steps down and no coach will ever surpass her.

The most amazing thing about her, IMO, is that she has 7 titles over 20 years. The ability to stay on top of your game consistently for 20 years is incredible. Pat Summit titles: 1987 1989 1991 1996 1997 1998 2007
April 6, 200719 yr It would be great to see John P. get that job at Arkansas. Much higher profile job.....
April 6, 200719 yr I don't see Summit wanting to step into that arena. She has been so succesful as a women's coach and is a legend. She obviously doesn't need a raise...as she bought her 3 assistants Mercedes after their win.

The jury is still out IMO on her ability to coach men's b-ball. For years, her success was derived simply because she got the cream of the crop every year. That tide has turned in recent years with UConn , Duke, UNC, and others getting top talent that used to automatically go to Knoxville. All you have to do is look at the fact that until this year, UT had not won the championship in quite a while. If you base her ability to coach on her past success you then HAVE to say her coaching has gotten worse over the last 7 years and it suddenly got better this year. Obviously, that's not the case. It simply supports my contention that her success and her talent level are in direct correlation.
