April 5, 200719 yr When did Mitch choke? Hiring coaches who turn around programs (Demoss, Brooks, Cohen)? Not getting the hottest coach in the country to come to UK because he is very happy where he is, in the empire that he built with his own 2 hands? I don't see where he has choked yet, much less again. If there were back door meetings with Donovans Agent and he pulled out I can understand that, but if you look at Barnharts complete past he loses out on a very good coach then goes for anything he can get his hands on as a quick hire. Plus, don't think for a second that he wasn't behind opening the door for your boy Tubby. I give Donovan a lot of credit though. He has made UK look good in all of this, by publicly saying that UK never offered him the job. That shows a lot of class and avoids a lot of embarrassment to UK, I would hope UK fans see that and treats Donovan well any time we face him, as he may well be next in line after this next coach leaves. Donovan will have a tough two years in front of him.
April 5, 200719 yr Just saw a report on WTVQ on Billy G. Sporscaster in Texas said they are worried they are going to loose him also said that he was not as attached to A&M as Barnes was to Texas. Clip also showed Gillispie walking around at a shoot around twirling a ball on his finger like Curly Neal. The more I research him, the more I think Billy G. should be our next coach. 1. Key recruiter for Bill Self 2. Married to job, incredible work ethic. 3. His teams played two or three of the most exciting games that I saw all year. I think they're already there! This is so much like what happened to the Alabama football coaching situation. You run off/fire/force your coach to leave, or whatever you want to believe, and eveyone worth his salt turns you down. Who wants to deal with a fan base that has that much power and ability to make this kind of coaching change a reality. I don't blame Billy D for staying in FLA. If someone was going to pay me the same amount of money and I don't have the preassure of delivering what the Big Blue Nation expects year in and year out, I'd stay where I was too. IMVHO Billy made a smart decision. If he would have come to UK and if he didn't deliver, he'd have been run out of the State just like Tubby. He doesn't need that, he's got it made right where he is, a big fish in a little Ocean, or is that a big Gator in a little swamp.

My only concern is, he's a Teaxs boy. If I were MB and had a chance to interview him...my first question would be this: Given the choice, would you rather Coach at Kentucky or UT (Texas)? One things for sure, if Barnes does come to UK, then Texas up-grades.
