That means he would have to put up All Star #s for the next 4 years, have no injuries and somehow carry the Reds on his back in what would have to be a miracle season. Chances of that coming to fruition/ Slim to none and Slim just left town.

Chances of that coming to fruition/ Slim to none and Slim just left town. Even if it did (and obviously it will not), he's still going in as a Mariner. He made his name (and saved the franchise) and became Player of the Decade while a Mariner. No chance he will not be a Mariner.

June 23, 200719 yr The Mariners have a ceremony for "The Kid" starting at 6:00 PM out here (I'm in Seattle). Been in Seattle since Wednesday afternoon and I've never heard so much talk about Junior. The city of Seattle has been looking forward to Griffey's return since the day he left, and they're going crazy. Ken Griffey Jr. gets a lot of credit for baseball surviving on the west coast. The people up here feel that if it wasn't for #24, there would be no SafeCo field and that the Mariners would have been moved to Tampa Bay years ago. On the local Seattle news, former Mariner Jay Buhner referred to The Kingdome as "the house that Junior built". Seattle would take him back in a heartbeat. There are rumors up here that Seattle is looking to acquire him from the Reds.
