April 5, 200719 yr Arroyo is charged with those runs, really not fair. Well I can't complain now since they finally got a clutch hit. It's only the 2nd game of the year, but seeing the Reds bullpen allowing inherited runs to score brings back not so fond memories of last year before the 212 trades.
April 5, 200719 yr Come on HC, it's only April 4! You've got to try and block the memory that was last year. After all, starting pitcher Lilly got past the 5th inning, which seemed to rarely occur in 2006!
April 5, 200719 yr Left Arroyo in the game too long. That'd be Narron at his finest. I don't understand half his moves. Arroyo's first game of the year, and he's out there for 7+ innings. It is refreshing listening to Thom and Jeff instead of Chris and George. I can get used to this. Now, if DIRECTV had FSNHD, I'd be in heaven right now (except the score would be different).

I'm only 32, so I will say that I have been following the Cubs everyday since 88 or maybe since that division title in 89. It didn't take me long to learn that you try to avoid getting TOO excited about this team. lol With the money they spent on Lilly, certainly a nice first impression to make. So Dunn avoids all the strikeouts tonight and Freel happily takes up the slack.
April 5, 200719 yr That was Burton's major league debut, it certainly showed. I guess the good news is, whenever he pitches again, it can't get much worse.
April 5, 200719 yr Marty was saying Santos was lights out during spring training, he showed it there. VERY impressive to come in and get out with no runs scored.
April 5, 200719 yr It has been nice to listen to TB and JB. Brantley provides great analysis, but his lack of homerism might put off some Reds fans (not me, tho).
April 5, 200719 yr Loved Thom's line as Pinella all but sprinted out to the mound: "This is not going to be a pleasant conversation."

People are really going to find out how ignorant Grande and Welsh are after listening to these two. Brantley doesn't miss anything. Sometimes I wonder if Welsh and Grande are even in the stadium when they are broadcasting the game.

Nice job by the Cubs to even up the series, will be interesting to see what kind of starting pitching we get by both teams tomorrow.

Over on another Reds message board, it became a running joke to keep track of how many "Grandisms" we got during a game. One of my favorites was a pop up to short that Grande called a deep fly to right. lol

I started watching around '86, and have had my poor heart broken more than once by the North Siders!
April 5, 200719 yr  Check out my location. That's one of my favorite quotes from Grande last year. Very nice. I enjoy listening to Thom on TV and I like Brantley. But nothing can top Marty and Joe. TV will just have to stay on mute. It is tempting when George is calling a game, cause you know you won't have to listen long to hear something astonishing.
