I really don't think that they would generally score the way players do today if they were dropped into the league. Not to say that some couldn't but as a whole I just don't see it. The athleticism is on a whole new level in today's game.

And so are the quality of centers in today's game. In the 60's, every night Wilt was against a quality center and a game in which consistent doubleteaming of him (no 3-second defensive rule was in play) was common.

 

Today, you have stiffs taking the court against Shaq.

 

And don't go on about size because Ben Wallace and many other 6'9" or 6'10" guys line up against Shaq.

Kobe is the man. He does whatever he wants.

If Kobe had the supporting cast that Dirk and Nash have then LA would be right at the top.... Kobe has done as much if not more, than both, with less,,,,so i think it has to go to KOBE,,,,if not KOBE then Dirk,,,,,,Nash has won it the last 2 years and is considered one of the frontrunners this yr,,,,,ever wonder why? maybe because he has a great supporting cast!!! WHen it comes to Most Valuable to their team i think its Kobe because if you take away kobe then they would be one of the worst teams in the NBA, Dallas and Phoenix would still make the playoffs without Dirk and Nash

I second that motion, but I add that Phoenix would have to AT LEAST have a GOOD point guard to make the playoffs. Nash does so much for that team, (and I know this is unfair) but I don't think he deserves the 3rd MVP award. Look at the company that puts him in! Is he that good? Could you look back 20 years from now and say he is as good as Bird, etc....

Kobe has had the supporting cast in the not so distant past and never won the MVP award. He is too selfish and worries more about himself than team success, just my opinion. I am not saying that he is not a great player, he is.

And he is the most complete offensive player in the league. But he forces too many shots and will sulk at times, like last year in the playoffs against Phoenix. I think he is third behind Nash and Dirk.

If Nash won the third in a row it would not mean that he is as good as Bird. It just means that in this current day and age that he was the dominant player at his position and I think there is no doubt that Nash is the best point guard in the league and Phoniex would not have had the success they have had without him. Proof being that the longest win streaks in Suns history are all during Nash's time with Phoniex.

I think Leandro Barbosa could run the point and get them in the playoffs without Nash,,,,he is the one who runs the team when Nash is on the bench and does a pretty good job of it......Kobe is the one that kept them in the series with the suns,,,,remember the game winner in that one game.

Hey its Mashburn, how can you argue with that!! I do not like Kobe Bryant. I never really have. But I do think it should either be him or Dirk Nowitski. As of right now I believe its a 2 man race.

Well, in my eyes the MVP should go to someone who makes everyone around him better, not saying that Kobe don't do that, but no one does it like Nash does. I'm not a Kobe, Nash, or Dirk fan.......I am maybe the biggest Tim Duncan fan ever but Nash should be the MVP....

The Laker's really needed this game and Kobe had to have 26 shots to score 17 points. On the other hand the real MVP, Steve Nash put up 26 points on 10-16 from the field, 3 boards and 14 assists with only ONE turnover. So I ask you, who does more to help their team win? Kobe might be the best scorer but it comes with a price.

Good argument. Pick one game. Kobe played every minute of the game last night and did all he could to keep them in the game scoring 50 points and they still lost. Give Kobe Amare, Barbosa, Marion, and Bell and then well talk. Kobe has A busted up Odom who can't hit a shot outside of 5 feet, Bynum who is not very good right now, Luke Walton who just does what he can and thats about all that is even worth mentioning.
