I have been to I believe 15 since 1988.

I attended my first one in the early 80s Watched a small team from Carlisle County play in the finals i think.

My first sweet sixteen was 1968 when Lee County played to the Semi's with a close pal of Gold Sunrise in a classic game. I was six. Never went back till Lee County went in 73 and was taken down by Maysville and Fred Walker.

I've went to my first state tournament in 1966 I was 5 years old. I've not missed one since. I will extend the streak this week at Rupp!

This will make the 26th straight year of making the trip to the State Tournament. Started going in 1981. I have participated as a fan, a manager, a player, and now as a broadcaster at the Greatest Show in Hoops, the Boys Sweet 16.

That 1968 tourney is one of my favorites. Breathitt Co had gone the year before and was a crowd favorite. Lee Co was the favoriet in 1968. They were a 18 point underdog in their first game and ended up going to the semi's and lost in OT. That was when you could wear your shirt-tails out and had to raise you hand when you committed a foul.

1983, Carlisle County lost to Lex. Henry Clay in 3 OT, the final was 35-33. Game was won on a last second put back.

 

Covington Holmes' Coach, David Henley was a starter for Carlisle that year and they finished the year 40-4.

My first time ever in Rupp was not for a UK game but the opening round of 2000 tournament. NewCath went that year and although they lost in the first round to Male I had a blast. I've gone every year since except 05 when i went to watch the Cats beat UC in the second round in Indy.

 

My dad and my uncle have been going every year since the early 90's and go to pretty much every game.

 

My second game was E-Town vs. LexCath when Barber took over the finals.

Just got back from the hospital where I was visiting Allen Feldhaus who has been there a week and is going to miss his first state tournament in years. He's a great guy and friend and needs all of our prayers.

In Mason County and all around the Bluegrass, Allen Feldhaus is known as "Coach" and he is a Hall of Fame Coach and a Hall of Fame person. Prayers from my family to my former coach! He will get a shout out from me at this weeks Sweet 16 while I am on the air. Get well soon Coach!

I really try to go if my teams are in it. But i do really enjoy the atmosphere and I will be attending the tourny this year to cheer on the Cards..:thumb:
