Coaching changes?

Montgomery is a 4A school in the tenth. How many 4A schools in the tenth? I know GRC but is there anyone else?

Are you sure that Montgomery Co. is a 4A school? I always assumed they were class A based upon the schedule that they play. Haven't they been playing in the All-A Classic?

I'm pretty sure Montgomery has over 1,000 kids. dont know if its 3A or 4A though.

Montgomery Co. has a little over 1200 kids and continues to grow.

As for the Boys Basketball job, we'll just have to wait and see.

Montgomery is 4A.

Montgomery is 4A.

No kidding; I'm shocked. Looking back over their schedule the last 10 years or so, I see a lot of Powell Co., Deming, Menifee, Co., Augusta, Bracken Co., Bath Co., St. Patrick, Nicholas Co., Lee Co., etc. They even had KSD, Burgin, Sayre, MMI, Model, and Berea on the schedule quite a bit. Are you sure?

Brent Rose will not be back at Betsy Layne due to a county wide policy in Floyd Co. not allowing Principals to be head coaches.

1080 to be exact from KHSAA 2 year average and under the new classes will be 5A school.

It is official, Bart Rison is retiring as boys basketball coach at Montgomery Co. He will become the full-time AD and remain the girls' softball coach. I would expect this job to generate a lot of interest.

It looks like the only substance by the mustang faithful on this topic is the free food they grab out of the hospitality room in Maysville. Reitz has made it pretty clear and does not know how this stuff started.

Not a chance Montgomery has been playing schools like this much over the last 10 years is there?

That's like having the 96 Bulls and opting to play in the MAC.

Deming, Augusta, & Bath all made their regional tournaments. Paris is in the same district, so they had to play them twice for seed purposes. Bath and Menifee are both border schools that have been on Montgomery's schedule for years. The schedule wasn't as tough this year as maybe it should have been. A lot of that was because they were in the second year of a two year contract with some of these schools that were added to the schedule last year when Montgomery was rebuilding with a very young and inexperienced team. Regardless, the schedule has nothing to do with him contemplating retirement. Like I said earlier, no one is pressuring him to make changes or retire.

Most every district that seeds plays everyone in the district only once a year for seeding purposes. Why would Montgomery have to play Paris twice for seeding?

As for Bath and Menifee being border schools, Scott County has a lot of border schools as well. Somehow, they've fought the temptation to play the border schools and instead choose to play the best competition they can find. It kind of seems to have worked for them.

I don't know what other districts that seed do, but in the 40th, all schools play each other twice, home and away, for seeding purposes.

Do you really think it's fair to compare Montgomery Co.'s schedule to Scott Co.'s? I'm sure that if Montgomery Co. had the same talent that Scott Co. has enjoyed over the past 10-15 years, they too would've been playing the best competition they could find.

That goes both ways. In order to make your program better you have to go out and play good teams as well. Also, at a big school like Montgomery Co. you have to develop talent as well. Teams like Scott Co, Warren Central, and Mason dont just say, hey we got good athletes, we are going to be very good. Nope, they develop athletes into good basketball players.
