Scott County 74 Lexington Catholic 48

Featured Replies

I think you might have me wrong. I didn't think Scott County was bad, they just didn't perform as well as I expected them to. As for Catholic, I grew up in a time period where Catholic was the premier program in the state. Their program has slipped and its evident. That doesn't mean their bad, they just aren't anywhere near where they were for so long.

As for teams I've been impressed by, in no particular order (and in no means all of them):

Ballard

Male (prior to the injury to the big man)

Covington Catholic

Warren Central

Mason County (at times)

Well Scott has beat three of those teams that you were impressed with. I have a hard time understanding you logic that Scott isnt that good because Catholic isnt as impressive as it once was.

Observations

1. Scott Co was the more aggressive team today.

2. Hundley and Lee did a GREAT job defending Novosel and holding him to only 5 shot attempts!

3. Jimmy Warren put together another great game - getting every loose ball. LC changed who would bring the ball up the floor to make sure it was not who Warren was guarding.

4. Scott Co. came out of the half time locker room ready to play - out scoring Lex Cath 25-10 in the third quarter.

5. Mackey didn't score as much as normal, but he made a lot of correct decisions finding the right people in the right places on the court to help SC win... He also spent a lot of the game in foul trouble.

6. Taylor Stewart had a really nice block on Mackey - they were both well above the rim.

7. The double technical was the right call. Corvin isn't in the game for his great basketball ability - he's the hustle/garbage man for Catholic. He dove hard - Mackey has to realize that he's not as expendable as some who might try to get him to retalliate. I'm glad the whole incident was over quickly and the game went on... There were more than just Mackey and Corvin pushing and pulling other players.

8. Scott County's fan base is awesome - it was a sea of red today.

Good statements.

Scott County has beat 3 out of those 5 teams.

Not suprised that Scott won but suprised at how bad it was. I really thought Lex Cath. would play them closer than that.

So did everyone else... including me

Again, I didn't say they were bad. I just said they weren't as good as I expected, considering they are #1 in the state. I didn't say those other teams that impressed me could be Scott County, although they might. I think I just caught Scott on a not-so-stellar day. Geez.

Thought Scott Co would win , but not by that many. Congrats Cardinals.:thumb:

I can see where someone who hasn't seen Catholic at their best might not be overly impressed with this win by the Cards. The offense wasn't as dominating as it sometimes is, but the Defense was stellar.

SC may be #1 in the polls, but there isn't really that much difference in 1-10. It's not like SC is the Celtics back in the day or UCLA... There is a lot of parity in the 11th region as you can see with Creek's run.

If you read some of the posts on BGP - "best team ever" blah blah blah it's easy to see how someone might have some very HIGH expectations. In reality SC is a darn good, hard-working basketball team. The day they think they are more than that is they day their season ends.

The best that I have seen since the Bobby Keith days at Clay County in the 80s.

It is a rare occasion where the home team has more fans that SC brings on the road. They are loyal, loud and they get there early.
