But I have to admit that I (like some others here, I suspect) get tired of some of the Rose Hill people hinting at a conspiracy every time one of their own doesn't get an award they feel is deserved. After a while, the "wolf cry" wears a bit thin ...

It may not be a conspiracy to keep Rose Hill out, but some area programs who have so many votes are conspiering to promote their players and program. It would be easier to swallow if each school had the same amount of votes, it would also be fair.

If we are talking about votes for Miss Basketball, each team DOES have the same amount of votes.....ONE. If we are talking about KABC Region player of the Year, Rose Hill has NO votes, to my knowledge. I think Emily Queen would be a great choice for Miss Basketball, if I had a vote, I would vote for her. I know of one area coach who told me she/he was voting for her. She's on my list for the AP All-State and Player of the Year.

Emily London is up there, perhaps the most competitive young lady I've ever watched live. Man she's intense. Just curious...how did her teammates like her? She was all over a couple of them during the game I watched...and they were up 20. I could be wrong, but I almost got a sense of resentment...or maybe it was just a bit of intimidation??

 

Either way, a true leader and motivator...AWESOME point guard.

You'd think that after all the back-and-forth on this thread and elsewhere that someone would explain to us, the benighted masses, just what it is the voters attempt to decide when they cast their votes for Miss B. Like you, I'd really like to know.

I think it will come down to who played last, not to say this should be the driving force, if it is between Gray,London and Queen, I think it will be London. Not my pick but I, like the majority on BGP, do not have a vote.

 

Maybe we should have BGP "Miss Basketball" and a BGP "Mr.Basketball"(on the boys thread) and see how it compares to the real one.

If career accomplishments are given greater consideration, then I would agree that Rebecca and Emily are probably the favorites in their class. If the senior season alone is given greater weight, then I believe one would be hard pressed to deny Emily London the honor. What a season for a kid to remember.

 

I'm pleased that at least BGPers...with a few exceptions...give fair consideration to a number of kids. I would think that somewhere there is a good sports writer that would research each girl's career and provide stories about them. Just to be given fair and due consideration would be an honor to remember for any player...and parents and fans would appreciate it.

I am an Emily Queen advocate but I agree with Himmelfarb. If the award is based upon the senior season alone, how can it not go to Emily London? She led a young LCA team to the Class A and the Sweet Sixteen championships. She led her team to victory in the 11th Region which may have been a better tournament than either of the others. When I say "she led", I am not referring to leading in points scored, etc. It is much more than that. She literally led her young teammates on and off the floor and would not allow them to lose. Anyone who witnessed her performance knows what I mean.

 

She also led her team to two big tournament victories over LexCath and that is no small feat as Scott County can certainly affirm.

 

Career numbers and hype would take her out of the mix and I suspect that, in the actual vote, those two factors will carry the day. However, for 2006-2007 accomplishments, there is no other choice but Emily London.
