March 8, 200719 yr For the past 2-3 years, Alabama has come into the season with lofty expectations and a Top 10 Preseason ranking and once again, they under achieve...I know they've had some injuries and such, but, every team does and teams expected to be as good as they've been advertised, find ways to overcome adversity and still be successful.. With that said, is Coach Gottfried on the hot seat? Do you think he's gone this year? If he does leave, be it on his own or by being forced out, who does everyone think will be the next Bama coach? Personally, I think there will be an announcement coming anyday now. As far as a replacement, I think John Pelphrey may get the call....
March 8, 200719 yr They do have some solid players, but injuries hurt them bad. I think he'll have one more year there at least.
March 8, 200719 yr He is an Alabama grad. I don't think he is going anywhere. His track record isn't exactly sparkling.... Doughtery was a UNC grad, but that didn't stop them from firing him after a 8-20 season.
March 8, 200719 yr His track record isn't exactly sparkling.... Doughtery was a UNC grad, but that didn't stop them from firing him after a 8-20 season. Big difference there. Alabama is not UNC or Kentucky. Wait a minute. Underachieving every year. Too much talent not to make a good run. Maybe they are Kentucky.
March 9, 200719 yr His track record isn't exactly sparkling.... Doughtery was a UNC grad, but that didn't stop them from firing him after a 8-20 season. That was UNC basketball and this is Bama basketball..........big difference on expectations and tolorence. I will agree though that he may be on thin ice.
March 9, 200719 yr Over-Rated! Best to describe Alabama. I just don't see how you can do such a good job in recruiting and bringing in all that talent, and not get anything out of it. Makes no sense.
March 9, 200719 yr Alabama Grad? Where did Mike Shula go to college? Mark needs to go and on the Bama Site they are not happy.
March 9, 200719 yr If we could just merge Gottfried and Tubby...Awesome recruiter but can't coach em up...injuries has hurt, but 20-12 is not what Bama has been expecting, I would take Gottfried as an asst instead of Rigot!
March 9, 200719 yr As a Kentucky fan, I would love to see John Pelphrey get a shot at Alabama. If he can prove himself in Tuscaloosa, maybe he'd venture up to Lexington and become the next coach of the Kentucky Wildcaaaaaats.
March 9, 200719 yr To be fair to Alabama Steele wasnt himself. And last year they lost their best post player to injury. I cant remember his name.
