This is true.

When Cartman kept laughing at the teacher in the beginning, I think I laughed just as long as he did. I love this show. Get down with the sickness.....:lol: :lol: That is so hilarious.

 

As a side question, does anybody remember what season, the "You Got Served" episode was on. That's one of my top 5 favorite episodes and I might go buy that season. "Don't break my heart....":lol:

I have to admit that I LOVE Southpark. I have my Tivo set to record all episodes on every channel on an ongoing basis. That way I can watch all I want after the kids have gone to bed.

 

Some of my favorites.

 

episode where Cartman wants to join NAMBLA because they "care about kids".

episode about the female teacher's "improper" behaviour with one of her students.

Tom Cruise Scientology episode.

 

mmmmmkay.......

 

Throw in when Cartman and Butters were king of the Sea-people.

I died when Cartman explained how he got all the free sea people he could want.

People that get offended by television shows bother me a lot. They do have the 'OFF' option...

This type of statement bothers me because I deal with students all the time that don't turn it off and I have to deal with the language, attitude, etc of South Park. Their parents don't monitor what they are watching and as a result I have to deal with the "stuff" that comes to school via these type of programs.

So the solution is...? The part about parents not monitoring this stuff says it all. It is free speech, I'm not always happy with the results but the alternative is worse. I would rather have my kids watch "South Park" than "The View" or "Bill Maher". JMO.

I am SICK AND TIRED OF THE FREE SPEECH ARGUMENT. We limit free speech all the time in this country. BGP limits our free speech and I don't see any picketing of guru's house. You can't make threats on the Presidents' lives without a visit from the Secret Service and possible charges for it. Students are suspended from school for language and making comments about teachers. You can't say certain words on public television.

My parents didn't like me watching back when it first came out (roughly 5th grade for me), but recently I've made my parents watch some of it and even they think it's funny because they didn't pass judgement on it because of the language, "attitudes", and cartoony drawings. However, they still don't let my little brother watch it, and that's the way it should be because it's not intended for him.

You answered your own question. Its because it falls short of the limit. FYI, people choose to follow the rules on this site in order to be a member. There are many sites with more relaxed standards. Try pointing out to your students the flaws in such shows. I used to complain to my kids that the Simpsons was a degenerate show. They continued to watch but I think they questioned some of the premises of the show. Just last year my daughter (a 4th year Politics and Government student at UVA) wrote an excellent paper about the effects of "The Simpsons" on the decline of the American family. Fight the good fight and hope to win enough battles to eventually win the war.

Not talented muscically, than say a cuss word, rap about drugs or what sexual things you will do and you will sell records to them. Can be intelligently funny, than say a few cuss words, make fun of people and it will sell.

All hail savior lbbc. A lot of things are rated mature: for mature audiences. You don't have to cuss to be funny, but it's a very common thing in the adult world, like it or not. There are plenty of movies, ADULT movies that use ADULT language. Yes, I will justify it is a good show. It's a great show for those whom it is intended.

 

The large majority of the episodes are political sattires. Just because you teach doesn't mean you are the only one that sees attitude problems with kids. Why don't you try looking at their home first before you assume it's the TV "poisoning" these innocent youths.

 

I know plenty of kids that are raised very well, watch South Park, or any other "horrible" movie or show that uses adult themes and they behave extremely well and polite. You know why? They were raised right and can handle it. Their parents know when it's ok for them to watch a show like that.

And you can make fun of me if you wish and it makes you feel better, by my concern, is those kids who have NO POSITIVE PARENTAL INFLUENCE and crap like this is what they idolize and their present and future is littered with jail time.

 

I would like a society that tells them acting and treating people like this is not appropriate. But I live in one that says this is a good show and the kids think that means it is acceptable to treat people as they see on television and hear on music.

 

So when you grow up and some teen boy picks up your daughter for a date, calls her a ho and treats her as he has heard in some rap song or movie or show, take your stance that it is good adult music and shows.

This is getting pretty ridiculous. YOU answered yourself in your own argument. If the parents don't raise their kid right, then they watch adult shows when they shouldn't. Or let me rephrase my, young adult to adult shows. Go check out the T.V. times of South Park and let me know when it's on and what shows are aired around it. You see any shows aimed for kids? The Sarah Silverman show? I think not. They don't even air the South Park Movie unless it is after 1 a.m. I'm not going to argue that South Park/bad language is appropriate for everyone, because it's not. Just because it's a cartoon doesn't mean it's aimed for kids.

 

Although I can tell you one thing, when I go home and I happen to watch South Park there and my little brother (13) is in the room, he doesn't even stay and watch because it doesn't interest him. That goes for the other 4 friends I've seen him hang out with.

 

You've already answered yourself in your argument. If their parenting isn't there, then how on God's green earth can you blame T.V. show?? Because if you want to remove any bad language or adult content just in case a kid hasn't had good parenting, then you've got a LOT bigger fight on your hand than South Park, so good luck.

 

And in regards to your ridiculous last paragraph, I've listened to plenty of rap and watched plenty of South Park and other movies for a good amount of time and I'm still 20 years old, but you won't catch me treating a girl like you claim somebody is going to do. Hmmmm why's that? Because I have parents that raised me well and I'm not that type of person.
