Bell looked pretty good tonight......I think it depends on which teams show up....the Bell team that lost to Clay, barely beat Cumberland or the Bell team that played tonight....same goes for the Hounds...which team shows up the team that beat Cumberland by 15, Clay by 17 or the one that has struggled to beat Whitley and Pineville( no offense) tonight......I think it will be a good game. I hope the officals call it as tight as they did the first game tonight. That was a well called game. The second game was not called as well IMO.

I think they didn't score alot against Pineville because Pineville slowed the game down to prevent the runs that got them down by so much the first two times they lost to Corbin. On that note, its hard to beat Corbin at Corbin and even though Bell is alot older than Corbin I just have a feeling Corbin will pull this one out.

Maybe true and honestly I don't know the first thing about 13th region boys basketball. I do know Eddie Whitaker and his family very well from years passed. I'll go ahead and put it out in the wide open that any predictions that I make about this region are completely biased due to lack of info. and geography!!! This is who I'll pull for until they are out of it in the 13th region!:thumb:

Bell County is the better team IMO. Corbin gets a little help playing in their own gym, but Ryan Whitaker will be the difference in this game, a close one I believe 68-60. The other Whitaker (Josh) will not get rattled by Corbin's press either, he is a very good young player with lots of savy for a freshman.

I don't want anyone to get their feathers ruffled. Let me just say that I think Madison Johnson is one of the best young players that I've seen this year. I read Coach P's comment in the Times today about Johnson being the best freshman in the state. Has anyone watched Aaron Watts of McCreary County play? He is only a freshman and has already scored 1000 points. This child is truly underrated. If he was in the 13th District, he would give Crawford and Johnson a run for their money. Lets all remember that Crawford is a 17 year old sophmore playing against other sophmores in his district that are only 15. When these kids are 17 they will be seniors. 2 years makes alot of difference in size and maturity. I believe that Crawford will turn 19 in December of his senior year. Teague from Williamsburg will turn 17 the summer before his senior year, Prewitt from Whitley turns 18 the spring before his senior year, Petitt from Williamsburg will be a 17 year old senior. We often forget that there is a big age difference between players. I wonder if you put these players together at the same age if the talent would be closer?

Who cares if someone is one month younger or 12 months older, it is about ability. Watts is a holdback as well. Johnson is a holdback, almost all the better players are this day and age. I am sure all these young men mentioned made the decision to stay back with their parents years ago. I think it is a bit late to be crying over the decision now that nothing can be done about it. If any of these boys are good enough when the time comes, their age will not determine if they play at the next level. It will be their ability...17 , 18 or 19 years of age.

Coach P did not say that Johnson was the best freshman in the state. He said that he was one of the best in SE Ky and probably one of the best in the state.

 

Crawford has been playing, and playing well, against 17,18 & 19 year old kids for three years now. He was playing in the state tournament as an 8th grader and is now doing things on the court that most players will never have the ability to do.

Bubba this is one time I'll have to disagree with you. Being a parent and in the education business trust me age makes a difference in BOYS..I would think you would also relate to this. I really hate to disagree with you....you are always one I tend to agree with!!

I was told by a professional educator that research had shown the extra year of maturity had a positive effect on most males and a negative effect on most females. This had nothing to do with athletics.

A 19 year old senior is more than likely going to have a huge advantage in strength, maturity, and ability, etc, in athletics,...than a 17 year old senior.

Here is what I thought the points of American Man were. The comparison of the players ages sometimes makes it a personal thing. Some of the comparisons were less than 4 months apart. If we are going to talk age...talk Johnson to Teague..are they not the same age according to the birthday police....who would you rather have on your team? Crawford does not deserve to be compared to some of the players mentioned in this thread. We are talkin about two entirely different levels of play. It is not the problem of holding back. If the parents at WHS, did not want to hold their kids back then do not use it as an excuse now. That is my point. What does this have to do with Bell Co vs Corbin at any rate....I bet Bell has some kids who were held back too.

Why even make a statement like this on this thread? I agree with Bubba. But making a statement like this on this thread is redicilous. So what if there is an age difference ... the bottom line is the class and what if Watts played in the 13th District like you stated ... then I can guarantee yoy he wouldn't be playing in the 13th Region ... that's for sure.

I tried to dismiss the 13th district statement.....I think we have a parent who is mad about not holding their kid back and wants to look for someway to justify their actions....but Bubba is not a smart man and does not know much.

Well, I jsut don't see any reason to come on this thread and say something like that ... when it has nothing to do with Corbin vs. Bell predictions.
