16th Region Draw

Featured Replies

Yep, losing Vanhoose really hurts. Russell and Elliott Co. still are though.

:thumb: You are correct. Anyone that thinks that Russell will not be a factor just bc of the Vanhoose kid being out will be thinking that sitting at home the next night.;) Elliot has proven themselves all season long as has Russell. I just have a feeling about the Tomcats coming out of it, should be a great tournament. Good luck to all and may all teams stay injury free.:thumb:

A lot , he can't run that long . He will have to have a lot of breathers.

Selby is actually in very good shape for his size. He would have gotten alot more minutes against Ashland had he not gotten into foul trouble.

Looks pretty good, only one in first round that may change outcome for tourny could be Elliott vs. Boyd, that one could go either way. Selby is a matchup problem for Elliott, as he is for most teams in the region.

I would think that Elliott County is a matchup problem for everyone in the region when Elliott plays their game!

If you go by the Mascot Matchups here is the way it plays out.

FIRST ROUND

GAME 1 - 3/7 - 6:30pm - Ashland Blazer (Tom Cats)/Lewis County (Lions) A battle of the beast Lions pride is too much for the house cats tuck tail and run home as Lewis County Lions advance.

GAME 2 - 3/7 - 8:15pm - Rowan County (Vikings)/East Carter (Raiders) Humans do battle but the Vikings ship is plundered as the Raiders steal the Vikings weapons and leave them defenseless

GAME 3 - 3/8 - 6:30pm - Russell (Red Devils)/Bath County (Wildcats) The Devil himself couldn’t couldn't stand the heat as the nets as well as the hardwood becomes part of Dante’s inferno the Cats escape with their lives less a lot of fur.

GAME 4 - 3/8 - 8:15pm - Elliott County (Lions)/Boyd County (Lions) A battle of Pride. It is a toss up on the winner pitting two lions but edge to Elliot’s Lions have something to prove.

SEMIFINALS

GAME 5 - 3/10 - 12:00pm - Lewis County (Lions)/East Carter (Raiders) A battle of man versus beast. The Raiders are unable to steal the Lions weapons and are torn to shreds on their attempt

GAME 6 - 3/10 - 1:45pm - Russell (Red Devils)/Elliott County (Lions) Once again the heat proves too much for the beast which are the lions

CHAMPIONSHIP

GAME 7 - 3/12 - 7pm - Lewis County (Lions)/Russell (Red Devils) The Lions come prepared with fire in their eyes however roasted Lions is on the Red Devils menu and a tasty meal is served.

Winner

Russell (Red Devils) The heat in the Kitchen is nothing compared to the smokey hardwood flavor that the Devil Himself would be proud.

Good post but Russell will not when the title.

Good post but Russell will not when the title.

But they just might win the title.

I don't think they will either, Any team has an outside shot. Ashland and Elliot appear to be the favorites after the Vanhoose injury. That is why they play the game. History shows most of the time the team with the best record and best players don't always win. ie of that refrence the BCS bowl Championship game this year the Gators won. Look at the NCAA tourny the last umpteen years and look at the final fours heck look what underdog George Mason did last season. I love high school sports, it is the game as pure as it can be. Let's play ball heck I hope Bath and Lewis play in the finals two total over looked teams might bring in the biggest crowds as it has been a long drought for those teams in the Sweet 16. I love to pull for the underdog in any game.

A Rowan/Russell final is what I'm calling.

I think that Rupp is host to one of the first rounds of the NCAA.

You are correct. Rupp will host a first round of the NCAA for the next 5 years so the girls will play first for the next 5 years.

Selby is in good condition and moves very well for his size, I don't think the bigger floor will make much of a difference.

It's my understanding that when the floor was replaced at Boyd they made it 94 feet just like college. If that is true he is used to that size floor.

Well, Elliott got screwed, but should still be the favorites. I would have to say Ashland vs. Elliott for the trip to Rupp. Russell is most likely hurting without Vanhoose. Ashland better also watch out for Rowan.

Why should Ashland watch out for Rowan Co, Rowan still has to get by East Carter.

Why should Ashland watch out for Rowan Co, Rowan still has to get by East Carter.

Rowan will be a tough out with the home crowd and senior leadership.

Yes Scooterbob we are happy on Blazer Blvd. with the draw! except we are doing the wave, not back flips! Matthew wears maroon because he chose to do so. Give the kid a break! He played a great game last nite along with the others!!!

Digs are taken at and given by supporters of all schools. Only one acts like a mortal sin has been committed if its favorites are mentioned. I learned at an institute of higher learning (Hager) that, if one overreacts to something, he/she usually has a sense of guilt.

Other than his family, "Matthew" has no bigger supporter in this area than scooterbob. Read my history of posts and you should be so convinced. His family is well aware of it although BIGDOG23 seems to be more interested in displaying animousity than ascertaining facts.

I merely stated that I would like to have Matt wearing a different colored uniform. I also wish a few others were wearing different colors. Nothing wrong with that, is there?

You are correct. Rupp will host a first round of the NCAA for the next 5 years so the girls will play first for the next 5 years.

Good information.

I am picking Elliott Co. to win the 16th. Going to be tough with a possible matchup with Russell in the semis.
