8th Region Draw

Featured Replies

Calm down Joe. It is tourney time. One and out. Who is HOT? Do you go by the last 2,4,6... games or just district winners? For me it is Gallatin all the way but they are fighting an uphill battle that I hope they are ready for. Coach Jones will have them as ready as possible, this I am sure of and they are tourney tested. Go Cats!!!

Sure Gallatin would like to put Shelby out in the first round, but even the most educated Gallatin fan has to realize that playing Shelby, Simon and Oldham (if the numbers play out) is not a very good draw. Henry County, by losing the 31st district, has a much better draw than Gallatin. Tournament time is about matchups, and it is good that Gallatin is not scared, but the bottom line is you have to execute on the floor. But, if somebody was to pull an upset, (like south beating simon) then maybe it is not a bad draw. I think this tournament is going to be very interesting.

Amen!! This might be the most even region in the state. It should be a great tournament.

Yes it should - I'm really looking forward to it. It makes it a lot more exciting when you have so many teams with a chance. New Castle should be rocking on Wednesday and Thursday night.

Can anyone tell me why the tournament has been pushed back this year? In the past, the first round games were played on the Monday and Tuesday following the weekend district finals and the semi's and championship game were played on Friday and Saturday. The Sweet 16 would start up the following Wednesday. I see it is different this year with the final two rounds not being played until next Tuesday and Wednesday. Does anyone know why this is?

Boys Sweet 16 is not until March 21. Girls have the aforementioned dates because their Sweet 16 begins March 14. It will be this way through at least 2009.

Any reason for this, or do they just alternate every few years? I'm fairly certain it used to be the other way around, with the boys playing a week before the girls.

Didn't the NCAA being played at Rupp have something to do with this?

It does this year. Maybe Title IX has something to do with it in the ensuing years, I don't know.

The team that has the best shot is probably the Oldham County Colonels with Gary Forrest as the coach anything can happen with that team. Besides the loss to Anderson in the District finals Shelby was the hottest team along with Gallatin so im looking forward to the match up in the open round.

Oldham almost got upset in the first round from what I hear from people there who ever comes out the other side of the bracket should be going to rupp. But it is tournments and you just never no.
